My car is home after nearly two weeks with the Hyundai service centre. The fault was found to be a loose earth connection at the rear of the cylinder head. This affected the operation of the coil. It explains why the fault was intermittent and hard to detect. They asked me if I had modified the tune in the car, which I haven't. Must be a standard question. Who would tune a car with only 1200ks on the clock?
They eventually found this after the problem and fix was picked up at another service centre. It’s a build issue (loose connection). No doubt they will issue a TSB for this.
I’m putting this out here in case someone else has the same problem e.g intermittent rough running and mis-firing on all cylinders.
Hats off to Essendon Hyundai for persisting with this and getting a solution.
