Maintenance Schedule Differences in UK/Worldwide Logbooks

Hello everyone,

I own a 2019 i30N Performance and live in the UK. I have noticed that Hyundai recommends an oil change every 10,000miles in the UK, however I have seen that in other countries such as Germany and Australia, it is recommended to change the oil every 10,000kms which is quite a big difference. That's a 6213 mileage difference in service intervals.

My car is at 50,000miles, and has a full service history, mostly being serviced as per the recommendation of Hyundai UK every 10,000miles/every year or before. It still runs perfectly fine, but going forward I don't know whether I should be changing my oil every 10,000km as per the rest of the world or sticking to the UK guidelines of every 10,000miles, personally I've been getting mine changed around the 8000mile mark anyway.

Does anyone know why this difference in UK/Worldwide guidelines exist? I cant imagine its something as silly as Hyundai made a mistake with metric/imperial conversions upon creating the UK manuals and forgot to convert the milage difference. And I cant seem to find much information on this elsewhere online. Thanks guys.

A myriad of opinions, the gist should be:
Oil is relatively cheap, better save than sorry.
If you drive long distance and moderate loads, your oil will last longer compared to short distance/high load
Other manufactorers have 30000km intervals (made for the lease deal, see VW)

So, it's pretty much a gut feeling thing. More frequent oil change will most likely prolong your engine life, but the engine is known to be sturdy.
I'll be keeping the 10000km intervals when my extended warranty runs out next year.
