Issues with 5th/6th gear (and 1st/2nd)

Welp...that's some bad news but at least Hyundai is aware of the problem and seems to have fixed it already. I can live with 2 days. Gonna bring it up at my first oil change then. Hope yours get's fixed fast. Mind sharing the results after?
I'll keep you posted once i get it sorted :) Yeah if it doesnt go away when u hit 8-10k kms you should just tell your dealer and they are instructed it gets swapped, if the customer brings up the issue.

I'm holding off on reporting this until my first service is due. Gives plenty of time to keep reviewing this thread as I'm a few months off service time at least. I'm at roughly 6600 miles at the moment
However mine seems to be slowly improving, it was pretty infrequent anyway but it seems to be getting less even from that, and when it does, it's not catching quite as much.
Car gets a bit of abuse, but it hasn't been on track (yet!!). I don't know if that is helping things wear in maybe. Car is a June/July 18 build for reference.

My issue disappeared briefly but came back again. I've no idea why but it going back in again soon anyway.

Bearing? Clutch release bearing? If they don´t have reinforced bearing and will install same, it goes bad again soon.

You are correct that replacing bad parts with new bad parts is not helpful. But I don't think this is a wear issue, it seems more like a design fault, e.g. in the linkages. Mine has been awkward for ages but doesn't appear to have got worse. Replacing the parts with identical new ones may not improve things.

As I wrote - my car has 6000km-s (I will spend lots of time in traffic jams) and bearing is bad.

Autobahn and just beat 4th to 5th and 5th to 6th  sadly i have to care a bit more not to get caught, not from Germany :D
I see :D Well as long as it works I'm glad cause mine will probably get the same treatment as yous. Just passed 1200 km and it seems to get better day by day, will bring it up at 10000 service nonetheless.

Hi all, ive had issues while in N mode with regards to 5th & 6th gear, struggle to engage the gear, ive popped into my local dealer, and it seems its starting to filter through that there is indeed a issue. My car is booked in for a change of part in the gearbox. Parts are on order as not in stock due to amount of people reporting a issue. Gearbox out i was told allocated hours from Hyundai 6.5 to carry out the work. Also having the software update for speaker fader issue and rebooting issue reported by fellow hyundai n owners.

So, according to the VIN numbers, they built 5,783 i30N in the first year and 6,034 until Aug 13, 2018? Sounds about alright. Also in line with sales data. I’ve never encountered this problem with both of my JSN, even though the first one is clearly built before Aug, 18. Maybe it’s because I rarely use the 6th gear and rarely upshift before 6.5k rpm in any gears.

mines going in next tuesday to get the gearbox fixed. seat fixed (creased bolsters) head unit & satnav updated. i had an i10 for the last couple of courtesy cars. they said they will give me something with a bit more get up & go this time. Probably an i20 lol :).

mines gone in today to get the gearbox fixed. seat fixed (creased bolsters) head unit & satnav updated. They gave me a fiat 595 abarth 1.4 t-jet as courtesy car. Pretty nippy motor to be fair. better than i10 anyway :)

Reporting in after 600km after the change. The problem is gone, sometimes 4th to 5th it feels like it's gona do it, but still goes in 5th without a problem. Maybe i'm just too used to the issue that i think it's going to come back still. But so far it went in 5th and 6th every time and never got stuck. :D
