Issues with 5th/6th gear (and 1st/2nd)

Interesting, so are they implying that there's an updated part for this issue or are they just throwing the same part in it and hoping it magically stops? Or is it that the original part was damaged/installed incorrectly from the factory?
We'll see, info from them has been pretty poor to be honest. Mine's close to 10k miles, and if anything felt like it was happening more and more.

Is the synchro for 6th made of a different material than the other gears?

This is from around November 2018 well known problem for I30N and Hyundai is changing both gears (5 and 6) plus synchro.
In my country (Slovenia) this is kbown under the number HSE18-51-C030-PDeN (see picture in attachment). Ask your dealer, I think this should be global.

I also have this issue, but I would rather endure it than have a gearbox rebuild. Maybe every gearbox has this 'fault' but some owners are more tolerant. Will be interesting to see if there is a general recall if it is an upgrade rather than a like for like replacement part.

Yeah, you don't understand my language, under in the description it says that upgraded gears and synchro is to be instaled.
So I am on wait for parts from 27.11.2018.

Hmmm, had issue for first time (but only once) yesterday. Instinctively double-clutched it, then wondered if it really happened. Car has just under 3K km on it.

That's how it starts. And yes, it's not regular, sometimes it does it, most of the times it doesn't, and double clutching solves it, but I'm still getting it fixed.
Same - having mentioned it to them I wasn't really given a choice either, they said driving it would invalidate the warranty

I had the same issue and is showing more and more, especially in 6th gear. Yes double clutching is solving the issue, but should go without that, or I can just shift gears without clutch, awaiting rpms in proper range and shifting:eek::)

Just reading through this thread and want to get the facts straight. Just so I understand the problem.
5th to 6th shift either difficult or cannot be done.
This issue happens at any revs in particular ?
This issue sometimes appears or disappears after a few thousand kilometres ?

Just to add my experience to the conversation. No issue ever with the gearshift in or out of any gear. 2500kms covered.
I have not tracked the car and drive pretty conservatively for the most part. I have driven with some spirit at times when conditions allow but this has usually been using 2nd thru 4th gears on some winding roads. No really high rev engagement from 5th to 6th.
All the best to those enduring this issue. :)

Can't speak for anyone else, but for me it happens most often when just cruising normally and shifting around 2500-3000 RPM. As you mentioned, you don't normally bang 6th gear at redline lmao.

I have 3400km on the odometer currently, it has done it for as long as I can remember though.

I've had it happen twice in the last week. Just a slow shift from fifth to sixth at around 80kph.

Now I'm aware of it, and because I'm not banging it into sixth, I just double check its gone in before releasing the clutch.

Hi

on my its exactly the same. for me it happens only, when i cruising normally and shifting around 2-3 K RPM

These last 3 posts all seem to be similar in how the issue manifests itself. It also seems that this has been present since delivery. Did anyone have this problem appear later in the life of the car?
I just want to know if this is an issue I should keep an eye out for or if I don't have it at 2500kms then I probably won't encounter the problem. Thanks for your feedback. :)

i think on my car its not more noticeable like in the first months. my n have now 6500 km.
but i will try in the next days if i can replicate the problem.
in the first weeks i was drive really carefully to break in the car properly.
for me the n, was the first car in my life, i had so much problems change gears and i never own a automatic since i am 18 years old (now 44) and i drove and own a lot of fun cars (Camaro SS, ZL1, Viper RT)

I noticed this too a couple times, but mostly with relaxed and very slow shifting.
It goes half way in to 6th gear. But if I release the clutch pedal a little more it pops further, all the way in to the gear. So a synchro issue is very plausible.

However most of the time it's just fine, so I can live with it.

oh well, same is happening on mine and funny enough it happens from 6th into 5th as well but not as frequently. seems like it will need to go to the dealer :| almost 7k miles on the clock and it seems to me that the issue has started appearing a bit more frequently...

4k on the clock and mines going back to hyundai tommorow for a gearbox strip down and changing of the 5th and 6th gear assembly. Hyundai are well aware of this issue and are replacing for the new gear assembly if customers raise the issue, gutted I won't be driving it for a bit. Fingers crossed they don't give me an I10 courtesy car
