Issues with 5th/6th gear (and 1st/2nd)

Mine has been great from day one, no problem at all. I've owned quite a few sporty cars and I find this to be one of the best (if not the best) gearboxes I had.

Interesting.... for me it’s definitely 5th gear high rev changes. Seems to almost lock the gear out all together. No problem at low rev/ cruising changes tho??

Tbh I find that if i slightly let off the clutch it'll go into gear as I also have it when the gear almost locks its self out of the gear

Mine loosened up after 3500 miles, log it with Hyundai now though in case it doesn't. I had a gearbox ordered for mine but had no issues since

I took mine for a service a couple of weeks ago. i told them it struggles to go into 6th gear and its only done 4300 miles. They said they would take a look. Picked the car up in the evening and they asked me to book it in for a couple of days for an investigation in the new year as they have found a problem. Hopefully will get it sorted.

just had its 1st service & the dealership have asked me to bring it in on the 21st for 2-3days to take the gearbox out & investigate as they found a problem on the test drive.

1st service, I mentioned the 5 to 6 gear issue, they have asked to keep the car for longer as they are still investigating and said gearbox rebuild might be needed, but still investigating so waiting for a report.

Crikey. Don’t fancy a gearbox ‘rebuild’ thank you very much!

I still have a slightly sticky 5th into 6th after 8000 miles but not bad enough for me to call it a problem if I’m being honest.

My Veloster N has this issue as well, occasionally won't go into 6th at all fully but seems like it gets stuck half way into gear. I have to shift out of and back into 6th to make it go in, kinda frustrating. I'll bring it up with the dealer next time I go in.

To clarify, with mine it doesn't matter how much force you use when this happens, it refuses to go into 6th. trust me, I've tried being rough with it lol.

I had this exact thing and mentioned it on first service. Car has been with them for a month and wont be back till near the end of January. Replaced a syncro which took a month to arrive and then discovered they need a new oil seal (end cover) for the gearbox when they were fitting it which is also on back order.

They said it was a known fault and the comments on here might suggest why the parts are on back order.

Interesting, so are they implying that there's an updated part for this issue or are they just throwing the same part in it and hoping it magically stops? Or is it that the original part was damaged/installed incorrectly from the factory?
