I am now a Kona-N owner

The biggest gripe I have with the USA Kona N is we don't get the rims you get. Really wish USA model had the forge rims.
Yes, the forged ones are very nice except you can see more of the rapid start of rust on the disc about 5 minutes after parking up in damp weather!

Your mpg is pretty good because my average is 28mpg overall and our gallons are 20% bigger than yours:( One of the few things that actually is BIGGER this side of the pond.

Since I'm in the winter months I am using my Motegi MR 131 and that shows the disc quite a bit. I got them in Bronze and they look really nice on the Kona N. I do plan to make the Motegi my primary rim once the winter tires on it are completely worn out.

The other thing you have is power passenger seat. Is the passenger seat on your Kona N the same height as the driver or is it lower like the ones in the states?

Yes, both seats are powered, no memory settings though which is a pain although my wife does not drive the Kona anyway

I think they are the same height but I will check tomorrow to make sure - at the moment it is dark and chucking it down with rain!

Done my first mod today, it had a very sharp bottom right corner that I rounded off a bit.

Otherwise I do think it looks nicer than the original plastic footrest.

The seats are identical ...

North American models got screwed. The models here the passenger seats are lower. Really wish manufactures would just offer world cars with the main difference being the driver position on the left or right side. I mean I would have paid the extra money to get all the extra that are available overseas.

I agree, the plastic looks er... um.... well, plasticky! Where did you get the cover from, looks good?

It does seem unusual because from past experience the US models normally get more kit than the UK ones - have not even tried my heated rear seats yet, first car I have had with them fitted!

Agree, us Brits are the ones that usually get screw*d.

I tested the seat heaters the other day and accidently turned on the seat cooling when I turned the heating off, that works well too, froze my nuts very quickly. I love the heated wheel, it even works if you have gloves on.

Foot rest from RPM Performance on Fleabay, luckily it don't drone

OK, will have a look see.

Yes, we also found out accidentally that the front seat ventilation works - it was a cold day anyway and it certainly chilled unmentionable parts until we worked out the dual nature of the switches ⛄- I actually use the heated wheel more than the seats.

It was the rear heaters I have not tried as yet, not that I care because I will never be in the back!

I don't know what Brits are missing on but here in the states we missed the original i30N and the i30N fastback, i20N and that's just Hyundai N models. If we look at other car companies Brits get plenty of great performance cars we don't see here state side such as the Cosworth Escort, Toyota GR Yaris, Audi RS3 (hatchback), Cupra Leon 300, etc...

This is especially true with hatchbacks. What cars are available in the states that you wish were available your way. Don't say C8 Corvette; that is hard to get here as well and most places selling it is asking 15-20K above MSRP.

Not sure what you all consider hot or cold. But where I live in the winter the average temp in Celsius is between -5 to 0. Spring time the temp warms up a bit to between 12-22 Celsius. And by summer the temps range between 24-37. By Fall we are back to Spring time temps.

Winter average is -2
Spring Average is 18
Summer Average is 30
Fall Average is 17

As for seat warmer/venting, my Kona is parked in a insulated garage which has an average temp of 13 degree Celsius. So rarely turn either on. I normally can go outside in a light fleece when its about 0 Celsius outside. I don't mind the cold one bit.

I don't know what Brits are missing on
I think we were actually referring to standard equipment level on cars that are available both here and there - normally less in the UK, so Hyundai seemed to make an exception with the Kona N.

One car missing from your list - we did get several versions of the Civic Type R before the US finally got the last version, FK7 - which I did order initially but had to cancel, so I never actually owned one.

I know much of the standard equipment on most entry level cars is due to regulation. For instance TPMS became standard for cars built in 2007. Starting in 2018 all cars have to have a backup camera. That is the thing most people don't realize is that the country regulation determine many of the cars features and yet dealership try to up sell items that by law have to be on cars due to their model year. For instance, my wife 2019 Subaru the dealership made a big deal about it having a back up camera but in reality by law it had to have one.

I have a list of things to do already but it's only the spare wheel that'll cost, can't afford ceramic coating yet either. This list will keep me entertained for some time I think?

Fit Rally Flapz
Fit Front Dashcam
Fit Subwoofer
Fit Rear Dashcam
Fit gadget that disables stop-start (if it'll work on this car?)
Get a spare wheel (although my sub will fit under the floor if I don't, so still deliberating this one)
Ceramic coat (All depends on cash flow)

Before you wonder? "No" I is not loaded I am a retired old gid, not forgetting my Kona only cost me £500, i.e. the SQ2 + the £500. "What a deal though?" :) Best £500 I ever spent or what.

my subwoofer is in the recess for the spare wheel. This works very well but obviously limits any spare wheel plans.

funny you should mention as I have just decided to go for a "real" spare wheel so the sub will have to go above the floor.

De-badging should have been on my list too, that's now been done

My wife's CX30 has the Bose sub fitted into the spare wheel itself - was a headache to get the fittings right when using a 3rd party space saver but I managed it in the end - quite a clever design.

Does the i20N not have an OEM sub? The Kona N obviously does and seems to work well enough on the rare occasions I use the ICE!
