HPFP Needs Replacing Along With The Engine ECU.

I've just booked my 2018 (MY19) Hyundai i30N in for its 7th year service with 11,952miles on the clock, the service staff told told me that the HPFP needs to be replaced due to a recall from Hyundai, but also the Engine ECU module also requires a full removal and replacement. By the way after this replacement HPFP this will be it's third in its life.
Also can anyone be kind enough to tell me if they replace the follower that rides on the camshaft because in my opinion it should be changed due to it being worn to the HPFP. Thanks in advance.

I would only replace that if it was obviously worn. Once you take the fuel pump off, you can see the wear on the lobe.

In Germany the recall states, that the HPFP is only to be replaced if the code P0088 is thrown. Otherwise its just a normal ECU software update. At least thats what my dealer told me.

My dealer here in the UK told me at its next service the HPFP and the engine ECU requires replacing due to a recall. My car is a MY2019 vehicle registered September 2018.
I don't know whether the ECU replacement only effects certain chassis/VIN numbers, but they couldn't tell me why they are replacing the ECU as the service receptionist didn't know. Thanks for the reply.

The recall here in the UK is the same as mentioned above. The ECU is checked for fault code P0088 and if found then the HPFP will be replaced. If not the its just an ECU update (bear in mind if you have a remapped car this update will remove the map and therefore you would have to go back to the tuner to put the map back on but from what ive seen after the update people cant seem to get back into the ecu to remap it

OK, a manufacturing fault that could lead to excess fuel entering the fuel pump. My understanding is the service department check the software for an error code and if this is present the pump is replaced. If no code exists, then the software is updated and the pump is not replaced.
Dealer was pretty vague and told me they did not know what the new software did. They just follow directions from Hyundai.
New software will somehow stop a potential pump issue in the future? Will the software reduce pressures and maybe power the engine can develop?
No wonder there is distrust towards dealers and manufacturers for that matter. No information and no transparency.
