How To: Headunit firmware & GPS navigation maps update

It has, it's used mainly for live traffic updates and speed camera warnings, it connects to a hotspot on your phone. It's al in the manual. When you go into setup is there a WiFi icon? If so set up a hotspot on your phone and connect to it.

I'm facing an issue with this.

Back in June I did the upgrade using the file Jajodu posted , both the firmware and map and that worked fine.
Yesterday I used Hyundai's official downloader to get the latest firmware, followed the instructions and that too went fine, the upgrade was done and I do have the updated menus etc. The issue is that the system doesn't recognize the SD card with the maps anymore. It's throwing an error that the there's an issue with the SD card and therefore Navigation is not available.

Anyone else facing this or has any idea what's wrong ?
I didn't see any newer version of the maps , did I miss something ?

There's a much newer map version dated 08/11/21. It came with the software download. Send a picture of the sdcard contents. Unlike previous versions which used a separate software install from the maps the new one is all in one.

I just used the new software downloader and it worked perfectly. It puts the latest software and the maps on the same site card. I was wondering about maps after but its on the card after the software update completes.
It also fixed my sat nav search issue I had on the last update so really happy!

Interesting. The previous was some 18GB of software + 20GB of maps and the new is 22GB altogether ? :)

Below is the contents of the sdcard.
I will go put the new card back into the car and try again :)

The old 18Gb was the software for every model, Kia and Hyunda, it was called something like EU_ALL_software. The new ones are model and manufacturer specific, hence the reduced size of the software download.
There's no pic of the SD Card contents that I can see.

Any clues to where the SD Card slot is for the Facelift?
Mines just come back from dealers for an update but it's only got 210603 on it and I've lost a few options so want to update it myself using the software.

UPDATE: Nevermind, Facelift uses USB

I am new to all this updating. I have UK 2018 model and have used the navigation downloader from the hyundai site and downloaded the November 2021 update for software and maps to my hard drive on my laptop.
It's the next bit i'm confused about: Do i take the SD card out of the entertainment system in the car, plug it into my laptop and then select the downloaded file from my hard drive (using the navigation downloader) for it to be transferred to the SD card? I don't have to remove the old files or anything? I'm presuming the downloader software clears the old software and just replaces it with the new updated version? Once copied, do i then just remove the SD card from my laptop, re-insert it into the entertainment system, select update and drive around till it has updated the software and maps?
I'm such a technofobe and scared i will mess it all up leaving me with no sat nav etc.

Any pointers if the above is correct would be much appreciated.

If you follow the instructions in the downloader program it tells you exactly what to do. If you're really worried then buy a spare 32Gb. Sdcard from Amazon and use that. It really is a very simple procedure, have the engine running before starting the process and leave it running throughout, disable start/stop. It takes a good 20 mins.

I deleted my original files (but kept in my pc) and put the update files in the 32gb SD card (supplied by Hyundai). Leave it updated and the card inside the SD Card slot with the enging ON (not started) and updated like a charm.

You should have started it in case the battery took a dump and died, you could have bricked the head unit.

One change I have noticed is that if you drive up the A1 for about 90 miles to a destination in say , Yorkshire, the sat nav keeps telling you to drive straight on at every junction and the guidance bar on the RHS that used to show the distance to your turn off point now shows every turn off on the way, bloody annoying, why try to fix something that wasn't broke. It also tells you to take the LH lane in preparation to take a roundabout right turn........

thats some shitty navigation going on there. The feature that tells you early enough in which lane to stay was brilliant. God bless Google Maps for that :D

Another thing I've noticed (not sure if it came in an earlier update already) was a major revamp in the sound system. The changes is so drastic, I can even hear the sound difference through my DSP. It got significantly better in the lower mids imo! Sounds kinda punchier
