Hesitation going from 1St gear into 2nd

Hey , thanks for the reply .
I'm in Victoria .
Yeah the service centre is pretty useless if you have a problem that is anything above simple , the communication is just not there as you don't speak directly with the person working on your car ( in my case, although i think this is common ) .

Possibly the only answer to this problem we have is to take it up with someone at Hyundai Australia or at least hint that to the service centre you go to as they seem pretty scared if Hyundai sends out a survey and you rate your experience less than 10 .

I don't know what the software update is called as it was not listed on my receipt .

My next service is probably going to be later this year so i'll just try get used to it for now , but my brother claims to know someone who works high up in Hyundai so i might try exploring that option soon , i'll let you know if i get anywhere .
Hi,
I'm in Victoria as well
I took my car to Nanuwading Hyundai for a noisy diff then that didn't resolve anything and ended up with some update and since then my car is having this intermitted issue. Went back and forth with them and they have failed to acknowledge or rectify the problem as I have insist that is was the update that made the car running funny and they kept denying it. I took it up further with Hyundai Australia spoke to this gentleman named Sam he was helpful at the start and escalated the case but then nothing happened soon after communication went quiet and no longer returning my calls or emails. I took it to 2 other dealers which was in Ferntree gully and Lilydale Hyundai and they both could not fix the issue and kept denying it cant be an ecu update. So i have tried everything and gave up on it as it was stressing me out. Now few months has passed I'm willing to fight and finding answers again and I hope you would shed some light with your experience maybe we could even meet up and test drive each others car to see if it's the same issue only if you have time no stress. Keep in touch and good luck mate.

How about trying to get in touch with this guy for some top down attention?

Bill Thomas - Hyundai General Manager for Public Relations.

He went above and beyond on the issue of the fuel pump here.

Cheers Mate,
I know Mike and we was telling me to pay him a visit and test drive each other's car to see the difference. In terms of reaching higher management I highly doubt they would pay attention to ecu faulty software update claim as they are probably spinning around in circle pulling their hairs out over fuel pump recall. Unless I get some more numbers of other people having the exact same issue then it could be worth a shot.

I feel like i have the same issue in my 2025 i20n. I can hardly ever get a clean shift between 1st and 2nd gear and the car seems to bog down\cut out for a second during the change. Doesnt happen in any other gear.

Hey Mate,
Sorry to hear about your issue it's very annoying i know as i still have the same issue. Has your car only just recently experiencing the issue? is it intermittent as well? any update on the ecu software recently?

I've only had the car about a month and its always done it I reckon, nothing has been done to the ecu software. Only has 500km on the clock.
I'm usually always in N mode.
I need to do some tests with it in other modes with Rev matching on\off to see if there is a difference.

I've been to the dealership countless time they said that they tested a new model and it was doing the same thing my only concern is that my car never ever used to do it until it has some software update or it could be something else coincidentally maybe a newer model has a newer ecu update. Does it happen when taking from first gear as well? feeling like its bogging pulling you forward.

I think the idea that your problems are related to an ECU update is very unlikely. If the car had an automatic gearbox then it could be true but there’s nothing you can do to the electronics that would effect the change from 1st gear to 2nd as that’s all entirely mechanical.

My cousin had a noisy diff and when he changed the fluids every noice dissapeared. Be carefull, HYundai hellas asked for 2 litres of fluid 120 euros per litre!! Total cost with installation 300 euros!!! We used fuchs oil with the same specs as the hyundai ones, with total cost 80 euros and the problem dissapeared :)
