I seriously don’t think that was about the exhaust...twits like that are why we have “noise pollution” complaints. I doubt they would have went off after just a few pops...they way he laughs afterwards is pretty telling.
Even in 1st he’d be flogging it up to 50kph @5000rpm for some pops...on a residential side street while slowing down to park his car in his drive :-/ for those outside of AU on residential streets like that it’s a 50kph limit.

I actually commented on the video saying the exact same thing, the pops don't even activate until around 5k which means he must have been getting up it... But another side of me knows full well what type of absolute nut job bogans there are around Australia

Regarding speed. You can easily get pops and bangs way below 50 kmh in first gear. The pops and bangs can acitivate around 4k, if you let off the throttle quickly.
Still pretty stupid to use N-mode and drive aggressively in a residential area though...even if he “supposedly” went under 50 kmh.

Regardless, neither were law enforcement. They have no authority to be harassing, causing or escalating a disturbance with another person in front of or on his own property,. Especially for a perceived traffic violation. Neither individual, is equipped with a radar unit or knowledgable, so they have no idea how fast the guy was actually going. Call the cops, let them deal with the issue, this is why we have and pay for them.
Even a law enforcement officer/s have no idea, because they weren't there and will only discuss the trespass and disorderly conduct of the two neighbors, after seeing the video.
You can't take such matters into your own hands, as it will end up back in your lap, especially in this case. I know, I've been in this situation as a mediator many times. The two caused the disturbance, not the driver. I can tell you from a standpoint of civil authority, both are in violation of civil laws and can be held accountable for their aggressive actions and behaviours.
This is how people get hurt or worse, for engaging in such activity.

I have been known to step out in front of a fast moving car to abuse them. I live in a dead end street with a cul-de-sac (a turning circle), and Uber and other delivery drivers fly up the street, do a u-turn, and fly back down. We have small kids, dogs and cats, and old people (me included) that live and play near the road, and they just need to slow down.
I own an i30N (res delete) and a HRV with headers and straight through exhaust, my daughter has a modified BRZ, my son has a CRX with a straight through Fujitsubo exhaust and a Civic with just a hot dog muffler. Five out of our six cars are what I consider somewhat to very noisy. (The last one, a bog stock CRZ, is almost silent, my wife doesn't get cars...)
My two rules (for my kids and myself). When you get into our neighbourhood (like 4 blocks from home):
1. Slow right down.
2. Minimize noise. (low revs and exhaust set to Normal)
We all have to live here, and I don't need the complaints, or the fines....
In 25+ years I have never had a complaint from the neighbours.
I am NOT saying the receiver of this abuse was speeding, but driving in N mode and first gear at 5000+ rpm, and deliberately trying to invoke pops and bangs in your own street is pretty f'ing stupid. When you live in Boganville like he does, you are risking a star picket through your windscreen, and builder's screws under all of your tyres.
Take your speed and noisy exhaust to the racetrack, where they belong.

But seriously, good rules to live by. Haven't had any complaints with my Abarth in 3 years sticking to those guidelines.
Problem is, no one actually knows what happened, to cause it. The op of the video didn't say or record his actions before hand. We can go into the where for's and what not's. In the process, go down many dirt roads but we'll never actually know. However, some people perceive what they want too, most of the time.

I keep the VN in normal mode in my neighborhood, but sometimes have it burbling in custom/N mode when I return, usually switching to normal mode when turning onto my street.

Do you mean the Flexpipe/Downpipe? Well, you can do that but the problem with replacing a flexible part of the exhaust system is that there's a lot of stress on the whole exhaust if you accelerate/decelerate, because the engine tilts.
So in short, I would not at all recommend replacing the flexpipe, the other parts should be fine. One of the best "cheap" mods for the N is downpipe/exhaust combo as it gives 10-15 PS compared to stock.

That would make sense, except the resonator bit. A few other forum members have done that mod, and apparently the final muffler breaks quite soon after.
You could always get the non-resonated Remus GPF-Back exhaust for like 1.7k€ which comes with an E-Mark on it.

I would just be mindful that some off the shelf exhaust packages, particularly those with much larger down pipes, require a tune/remap in order for the car to run properly and gain the maximum stated power figures (e.g. XForce)
Any chance you could shoot me in the direction of those members @NULLOBANDITO ? I've had my resonator replaced with straight pipe for around 15,000km+ and briefly remember reading words to the effect of early muffler failure but I didn't think it had anything to do with res delete mainly decat/down pipe upgrade (could be wrong though) - Search function not helping me with those results either sadly.
