I’m wonderingbif these will reduce the wheel hop on ly i20N. Wander if anybody has this installed and how they hold up. Asking this because they look a bit flimsy to me… Is the manufacturer reliable?
I already have all the Powerflex bushings possible ( black variant) and got rid of the oem Pirelli tyres. I’d rather not install coilovers because I don’t want the car to become lower an the annual control is a pain here.

They won’t impact the wheel hop to any great extent as they aren’t really the cause. The main cause is the lower engine/torque mount. If you don’t want much of an increase in transmitted vibration replace the bushes with Powerflex purple but if you can live with a bunch more vibration then Powerflex black are even more effective (and what I now use).
 
I installed the black version already. Is better but not gone.
Yep, same in my case. Well I have also uprated the gearbox mount and the top engine mount to Powerflex black and am considering replacing the entire torque mount with the Whiteline version - the design of the Whiteline has pretty much zero movement fore and aft.

Should the Whiteline mount be stiffer than the oem with Powerflex black? I have the gearbox reinforcement and the engine mount at the right side reinforced as well.
I don’t know but I have the feeling that is is worse now I have the oem wheels and winter tyres installed. My summer, lighter, wheel/ tyre combo seems better. But it annoys me!
 
Yes, the Whiteline will be inherently stiffer because of the way the main pivot is constructed - but how much stiffer it is I don’t know. I would have already done this mod myself but 1/ I very rarely do high rev standing starts and 2/ the Whiteline is expensive in the U.K. for what it is (IMO).

Installed the Whiteline mount today. Firstly I should mention I have the Powerflex upper gearbox mount purple and the Powerflex upper engine mount, black version, installed. I removed the oem mount but had already replaced the bushings in this one by Powerflex PFF26-121-12 lower torque mount bushing and Whiteline KDT970 torque mount insert ( Whiteline sells it for the i30 but it fits the i20N as well.
Installation is easy, instructions are clear but I couldn’t torque everything to spec because the bolts in the subframe prevent my tool to sit perfect on the bolt and nut of the bushing nearby…
When I fitted the Whiteline mount it looked like it was about 7 mm too short ( wheel of the car on the ground and engine supported before taking disassembling the oem mount) so I wasn’t able to use the Whiteline bolts!! I reused the oem ones and as I torqued them to spec everything turned out to be fine.

First drive:
At engine start up I felt immediately less vibrations in the steering wheel! Very strange, a little vibrations in chassis but the same amount as before and no problem to me.
Wheel hop is less, smoother at take off! No esp interference at the moment on dry road at temp 5degrees and winter tyres. important for me!
Everything feels more compact and better bolted together. Weird feeling but it’s a bit as everything works better in one piece.
When accelerating and decelerating the front moves less and is seems like I have more control and more grip.
Cornering: I know it’s a good car but kow it’s a great car to me. I’m no reference driver but I did my “testdrive” on well known roads which twist and turn and highway. I had the impression it cornered at higher speeds without interference of esp. Esp turned off have higher cornering speed in 270 degree turn to enter the highway.
Negatives: it’s not cheap, but at the moment I’m convinced it’s worth the money.
So I’m satisfied at the moment, hopefully it stays as tight…

What I would really like to know is the relative stiffness of the Whiteline bushes compared to the Powerflex black - I’ll email them both and see if I can find out.
If one looks at the forces acting on the lower torque mount there are both rotational/torque moments and fore and aft/compression and extension moments. The design of the Whiteline pretty much eliminates the ability of the mount to react to rotational/torque movement. There is still a very small amount of compliance but it’s much more restrained than the standard design. Powerflex tackle this (in their billet mount) by using two retaining bolts instead of the standard one, but this is still going to be significantly more flexible/compliant than the Whiteline design.

If you mean Powerflex PFF26-122-12BLK it should be an interesting comparison. I found other brands as well but I never seem to find any measured results in stiffness. I think this is a bit strange when talking about stiffening up the chassis as manufacturers do. Therefore I really waited long time before buying and installing the Whiteline dogbone.

I’ve just looked at the Powerflex website and for the black lower torque bushes - the same compound they use for PFF26-122-12BLK they state a shore of 95A.


This next page has an excellent description of durometer and shore and has a comparative table. 95A is really very hard by rubber standards. I’ll see what I can find for the Whiteline.

 
I’ve received a response from Whiteline and they say:

“Hi Mark
Thanks for reaching out! The bushings included in the kit have durometer ratings of 85 and 82. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with.”


This is less stiff than Powerflex black (95) but still very stiff and, as I previously said, the Whiteline design will inherently resist movement more than the Hyundai one.

To put the shore ratings into context here is what Powerflex have to say about the three bushing options they offer:

”Yellow Shore A 70 is an upgraded replacement for the original bush, recommended for fast road use, Purple Shore A 80 is a stiffer material to suit higher powered cars that may be used on the track, Black Shore A 95 is our Black Series part for extreme Track and Motorsport”

So the Whiteline bushes are bang between the purple and black in terms of their stiffness.

I think I will get the Whiteline but it’s very expensive in the U.K. 😟.
 
I bought it in the USA. Shipped to Belgium. Still expensive but I love it.
Unfortunately Whiteline have a U.K. distributor so won’t sell directly from Australia. Anything shipped from the U.S.A. Is cripplingly expensive in the U.K. once import tariffs are paid and U.S.A. companies always seem to charge exorbitant shipping!
