Condensation in the headlight

In my case the lights got foggy as I washed them with a sponge while the gas tank is filling up. mit was rather cold outside and the lights where working a I arrived at the gas station.
As soon as I put the cold sponge and water the cover Glas, they went foggy.
looked a bit strange.
2 minutes later everything was fine again

It happens and it's designed to happen!

If you get water like I did Hyundai will swap it out. I've not had an issues since.

I have watched the posts regarding foggy headlights for as long as I have been a member of this forum and fully expected to see some moisture in my own lights at some point. I pressure was my car regularly (every two weeks) and have never experienced this moisture problem in some 15 months of ownership. I cannot understand why mine has not displayed the issue when others have. Given the headlights are identical one must consider their must be an assembly fault however minor in the foggy lights.

It just doesn’t get cold enough here in AU. When I said what you did and added “even when it’s 12C outside!!” the EU folk just laughed and said “no wonder you don’t see fogging”

See post #159. This owner is from Sydney. I am going to assume Sydney Australia and not Sydney Canada of course. I can certainly understand the moisture in the cold northern air is far greater than our dry Aussie air and this would magnify the issue. Spoke to 5 other N owners on Sunday and none of them has had any fogging issue either. Just seems a little strange that all.

What is this "dry Aussie air" of which you speak ? I've had the issue (mild) a few times after washing (no pressure hose) and on sunny 36 degree celsius days with 97% humidity. That said, my glasses fog up the second I leave an airconditioned car or office so it's hardly surprising...

I agree it’s very uncommon here - no surprise that no one in Adelaide has had the issue

Manufacturers could solve this using a small electrical heater element in the headlight that could warm the air clearing the fog. Why haven't they done this????

I’ve had the foggy headlights previously but now i have the water droplets..its been like this for 2 weeks now, taking it back to the dealer next week to see what they have to say about it

finally had a chance to visit the service centre, they couldn’t fix it so they have sent a request to Hyundai Australia to see if we can replace under warranty. Was told the headlight alone was $4000...this is what it looked like this morning. Fingers crossed

$4K for a headlight?! Seriously? I know they are not your average headlight but Insurance companies will be writing these things off left, right and centre for reasonably minor front impact collisions at that rate. Anyway good luck, my fingers are crossed for you.

yeah, no way is $4k right. The clutch is far less and the entire steering rack is $2k...

Exactly, I think if you'll look at a part schematic you'll find it's far less than $4K.

Condensation and water in left front daylight/turn signal
(being a similar issue, I preferred not to start a new thread)

So, yesterday it was quite rainy, car parked on open space the entire day due to work

This morning while driving back home, visual alarm regarding front left turn signal would come on & off several times.

Parked at home, left daylight/turn signal off, I noticed condensation and water in the lights (you can clearly see the level of water pointed by the arrow). Give it a good old fashioned bump, lights would turn on again.... meaning that the LEDs are functional, but the water gives a faulty contact??

Has anyone faced a similar issue?
Is it easy to access and open it, to drain the water and dry it? Because the manual suggests to go the dealer, in only has instructions for replacing the lights at the back

Would presume it needs popping outwards from inside the bumper.

You might be able to remove the lower belly tray and then get a hand up there to do it. Otherwise front bumper off job I reckon.
