Condensation in the headlight

mine started doing this a few weeks ago and i have now booked mine in with my dealer who are replacing the headlamp under warranty. I have seen somewhere that yes the lamp may mist up as do most but it should also go away with the heat. they normally test the light for 30-40 minutes and if it dont go away then they can replace it.
Good to know as the car is going in next week to have the synchro rings replaced will mention it and also ask for the headlamp to be replaced under warranty.

Yes, but sometime you have to wade through pages of useless information before getting to the meaty bits. So, I simply post my own threads. Yes, I certainly appreciate the heads up.

There is also an option for search titles only. That's why I often complain about useless thread titles. Forums are for sharing information and experiences, not only to grab a piece of the cake for the TO which have had answered all the questions - it's also good for people from outside here or people with the same problems.

So the function:
search1.jpg

And the results:

results.jpg
So if you try this, you will have 4 results (5 with this thread (1) which will be merged with the Condensation thread (5) in less than a minute.)

Btw, simply posting your own threads (without using the search function) isn't a good idea. There are people (like me) who try to keep forums clean, remove / move / edit / ... and so on. This is more than half an hour everyday - for free. These people (including me) absolutely don't like to do the search stuff for our lazy members. Maybe one time, maybe a second time with a pm, but the third will result in a deletion and notifaction that your post have been deleted while (again) not using the search engine.

Also it's written in the forums rules:

Just to follow this up.

Mine went into today and the dealer gave it a going over.

They've told me the drivers side one has a faulty seal, so they're replacing the seal. The passenger side one is, they've said, fine.

Funnily enough when I picked it up there was a brand new one outside behind mine, with 'fogging' in both front lights so I guess it really is a symptom of these lights particularly if you live where I do in the UK.

I have to make anyone reading this post or other forum member aware I have never posted my own thread without doing a search in fact this is the very first time this has happened would assume by the way in which you, pedigree has replied to my post I was a serial poster who abuses the forums which I do not so pedigree thank you for the public humiliation. I have been reprimanded for a first time offence.

Remember I do not need this n-cars.net forums to complete my life and I could live quite happily if I was never to visit the forums ever again now if you work the forum boards for free if you do it for free then that is your choice but really nothing in life is for free and this web site is making money for someone, somewhere.

So, with my public humiliation over I will go back to being a good n-cars.net forum member or you can delete my account whichever you like I don’t really care.

Maybe you should have had a wee bit more decorum and not make out like I am some sort of forum serial offender who just writes posts without searching for the topic and repeating the topic over again.

I have written a few topic and people have actually liked my posts as they have given me the thumbs up and actually e mailed me to express their appreciation and I usually get remarks that there may be more replies to my post.

You only had to consolidate one of my posts please do not make out I make a habit of this in fact would a private message not have been better than the way you have gone about it.

I hold a few forum accounts mainly for my PHD Program and I would post quite a bit and those forums they have never warned me that I was re posting a post that someone else has written before me in fact all the forums are pretty friendly and this is the first time anyone on n-cars.net had to address my post.

Just don’t make out I do it all the time as you are giving other forum members the wrong opinion of me.

Cheers

Considering what you have stated and other forum members would this not be classed as a design fault and maybe all the cars would need called in to have the headlights fixed as something is inherently wrong if so, many car headlights are fogging up the way in which they are.

Now my car today there is a wee bit of sweating right in the corner of the headlight it is nearly gone but as cold weather is expected this Thursday I suspect it will all fog up again, anyway I will take a photograph of the fogging and show this to Hyundai but the steaming has been in my front drivers headlight from Saturday now it is beginning to sweat up it just in one corner but non the less it should not be that bad.

It's a generic problem with LED headlights I think, rather than it being Hyundai specific, particularly when the weather is conducive to condensation (cold and damp). Basically they just don't get hot enough to burn off any 'fogging' like a halogen or xenon lamp.

Apologies if you know all that already.

If there is water in the light, that's a fault. If there's fogging, which vanishes when the weather gets better, I don't think Hyundai will do anything.

You don’t have to apologise, but I hear of other forum members who are getting their headlights replaced under warranty now my headlights fogged up on Saturday on Sunday it was rather heavy on Monday it sort of disappeared a bit but there is a bit still bottom left of the light lens now it has transformed into sweating like condensation in a car that starts to bead up into water droplets if that makes sense, anyway I will let Hyundai see the problem and see what they say.

I think, unless they totally change the light design (from LED to something else) even a new unit would just fog up again in the right conditions.

It you actually have water droplets in the light (like in my driver side one) then that's not right.

But, if you're not happy, take it in and see what they say.

To tell you the truth it would not bother me at all but how would that be regarding the law would it be classed as being defective, as road code states before driving you car on a public road you are suppose to check Lights, Brakes, Steering & Tyres.

The lights work fine though, even with the fogging. They are very powerful.

It it's an MOT issue they would be replaced then anyway.

Yes, true the lights are powerful no doubt about that dipped to me seems a bit low set not enough throw then high beam just throws more light sideways & forwards, but some here disagree and state they are really not that great compared to Xenon.

Funny before this car I had a Meganne GT Sport and the led headlights on that car dare I say it were slightly better than the Hyundai I noticed it straight away.

Definitely no humiliation for you. It was a statement and directly related to your post [Yes, but sometime you have to wade through pages of useless information before getting to the meaty bits. So, I simply post my own threads. ], which is why I quoted you as well. Yes, you haven't recieved a pm yet, because it was one of teh first times, never said I warned you.

What you do or want is your thing, this post is generally valid and I'm happy about any user who might be thinking about his own behavior in the forums.

This was not an attack, it was a general enlightenment. In addition, accounts are not simply deleted, but only many duplicated posts. I have not said that you are doing so, you have done that yourself.

To the topic "forum and finance": yes, the operator of this forum earns a bit of money with ads, but also puts in time and work (and money) to offer this platform. Without moderators nobody could use this forum here.

So it would also be appropriate to thank people who use their free time every day to provide users with a platform through where they will find many experiences and answers.

THIS ^^ is why the forum is a great place to hang out, and why it even exists. It's an often thankless task that you guys do, so thanks from me.

@Who! Me. don't stress mate, nobody is judging you. Keep posting, just respect the rules. I have made the same mistakes being new to this social media thing, and we are not alone. Happy N-ing.

Had my left headlight replaced last week. The new one has even more condensation lol
God that does not sound good at all as I stated before there must be a fault design in that headlamp assembly somewhere if you got a brand-new headlight fitted for it to be now worse than your original headlight.

I would have thought when you got it replaced it would have been fixed so what are they going to do now replace the new headlight with another new headlight.

I tell yaw a design flaw in the light housing somewhere as no front headlight should be fogging up as bad as what they are and my headlight today is very badly fogged up now the passenger side is fogging up also. I have never have this happen so bad in all the times I have owned motor vehicles usually with H4 or H7 bulbs you could pull of a back access plate and leave it off to ventilate the light housing and that worked but there is no access to our led hedlights. I'll take pictures tomorrow then you can see for yourself how bad my headlights are.

Well, as I said, I saw a 69 plate car outside at the dealer with fogging in both lights.

TBH I can live with the fogging. It does look pants, but the rest of the car is so good I don't care.

I don't think about the fogging when I hear the exhaust woofling away. :D

This has been discussed to death in the threads regarding it, as LED's don't make anywhere near the heat of a traditional Halogen bulb they can't evaporate the moisture inside the headlight very quickly, so in cooler climates like the northern hemisphere is now experiencing this impact will be greater.

It is by design and there really isn't anything you can do except go back to halogen bulbs if this is such a big deal to you. As has been discussed in other threads (which is why the moderators have advised you to search...) brand new supercars have headlight fogging as well as it's simply that the headlights don't get hot anymore. Here in Aus that's a really really good thing for us. Less heat is welcome.
