Hi Everyone,

My rear lights are starting to get green algae growing inside which looks pretty nasty. Presume this is to do with the water getting inside the lights. The car is 2 years old and I don't park under any trees.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue? Got anywhere with warranty? as it's clearly a fault with the lights.

Look forward to hearing from anyone.

My car is only a few months old so no algae growth yet but I am expecting it as I'm fairly sure I seen water enter the rear lights when cleaning the vehicle I'm guessing your car is an i20N like mine.
Sorry I can't help you though obviously I've never made a warranty claim because of this yet hope I don't have to

The floodgates will well and truly open when one claim is accepted under warranty,as they will all be going in for the work.

They all do this I’m afraid.

I told my dealer about this nearly 2 years ago. They took photos and supposedly sent them to Hyundai.. I’m still waiting. Lol

I just make sure they’re as dry as I can get them after downpours or washing it. No algae as yet, but it’s only a matter of time…. 😂

I have algae in mine along the edge, managed to get a lot out it out on my last wash, need to have a proper go at getting the rest out the next time I wash it. good use of the car dryer around the lights helps after washing.

Back to this subject!
I removed the lights from the rear wing today and managed to clear out the algae from the edge of the light unit.
Does anyone know how you remove the inner lights and central bar as I need to do the same and couldn’t see how they came off. No guidance on YT either

Is anyone aware of any videos showning how to remove the clear light covers on each of the different i20N rear lights and the center reflector in order to allow proper cleaning of inside them?
