Steering Issues

Finally collected my car today and it feels extremely heavy with feedback at slower speeds, faster or harder movements not a issue. Mainly when your cruising down a duel carriage way and you want to keep the wheel straight feels like it wants to pull left or right and tries to move the wheel so you have to fight it.

Going back in tomorrow to get checked as it feels like lane assist is kicking in partially. Has anyone else had this issue?

hopefully not the same issue as I have no warning lights nothing

I was a muppet and even with lane assist off you have to go into the settings to turn it off fully

Yeah that was what I recall that it had to be done in the settings to actually turn LKA fully off. Not so much you being a muppet - it’s just a bit odd IMHO.

With the Kona we used it most of the time as it wasn't intrusive or made the steering feel heavy. It was a little vague at times but not heavy. Same in the G80. It can be set to give you nothing but a warning, as I recall.

my19 I guess as I think it was built in may. SILF was to be done before I got it but wasn't. They are doing at the 6 week check over FOC as I have it in email they will.

6 week check over ? Is that standard on new cars ?
No idea but the person i dealt with has arranged it to check over the car and also check for any updates. They are now also sorting a few niggles i had for me at the same time

I noted this similar lugging feeling in the steering wheel when driving with small inputs on the wheel. Feels like it is slightly stuck when doing small corrections on the wheel.

I will try to fully disable the lane assist in the menu to see if this very annoying issue disappears.

Yeah choose LDW option and then there will be no LKA. Then disble that. I couldn’t stand LKA - a constant niggling feeling at the wheel. Might use it on loooonnnnggg drives though.

This will solve the lugging feeling. we have the LKA on the 2020 Kia Soul, 2019 Kona and the 2017 Genesis G80 5.0 Ultimate.I've played with it enough to realize the differences.

It's worthy of being utilized on long drives. You just have to keep your finger on the bottom of the steering wheels and stay in the middle lanes or inside lane. Soon as you move to an outside lane with an exit, the camera will attempt to find another line and steer towards the exit. Camera needs an unbroken line.

Turned off the LKA tonight and it did not help :(.

The sticky steering wheel seems to come after about 30-40 mins driving. Can be explained like this: Driving about 60 km/h or above, straight ahead and trying to do small corrections on the wheel. Feels sticky until a little extra movement input is given .

Identical to mine mate, I turned off pretty much all assists and have TC on Sport, however that sticky steering wheel was still there.

Just another "trait" of the car I guess.

Sounds like the same problem we are discussing in the german sub.

My car is at the dealer right now (for 20k inspection) and I told them about this problem.

They'll have a look.
