I was in the Hyundai dealership this morning and they are doing the pipercross filter, fitted for £35.94 which seems much cheaper than anywhere else.View attachment 9221
Oooh I just noticed, they're offering a Pipercross Filter as an actual Hyundai Accessory. Keep this in mind if your service departments give you some agro about having one. Just more cannon fodder, so to speak.;)

Taking the top of the airbox off, causes the car to make some lovely noises, I want more of that lol.
There is someone in facebook who has driven with the airbox opened and pipercross filter. Now his turbine wheel is broken cause he soaked in a few sand/dust/whatsoever things.
Please keep that in mind and do it on your own risk!

I usually drive with an open lid but check if the filter is seated properly atleast once a week. Maybe i should just tape that thing down?

Anyways over the winter months the lid is going back on. Don't want any salt in there.

I've just tried my Pipercross filter and it doesn't seal very tightly with the lid off.

The dude on Facebook has probably just sucked a lot of shite in thinking all is well.

The fitment/seal of the filter isn't adequate in my opinion.

The locking plastic wedge is locked down with the lid on, there must be a way of a better fitment without the lid on ie. for the turbo noises.

You can either; tighten the wedge with an adhesive rubber strip on the wedge or use actual adhesive foam tape around the air horn. Either works fine but the latter work better.

Form the foam tape around the circumference of the opening. Place the filter in the box away from the contact point of the air inlet. Slide it up to make contact and slip in the wedge. Very tight and no movement with or without the lid.
