Dan_bush27 Performance blue thread

Although my mechanical head asks .... How the hell do they manage to get an accurate reading at the flywheel when the engine is installed in the car ... Easy on an engine test bed of course.

Coast down on the dyno measures transmission losses I think.

I am convinced that unless you dyno the engine alone, the flywheel values are only estimates, just like power and torque charts as mentioned in another post.

EDIT: I mean the power and torque values estimated by electronics like the onboard charts and the OBD values people posted

The car looks great, really notice the difference the black badge makes when walking to mine this morning.

Sorry I am a little late to the party re the remap/tuning box side of things!

You are quite local in the area, I would suggest going to Charlie @ Surrey Rolling Road if you do another power run. SRR is known to be quite a reserved but very consistent dyno, in most of the Uk its the benchmark dyno. Its a totally independent rolling road (ie not a garage) that gets used by all sorts of tuners for different manufactures. I have my tuner live map my Monaro from Aus there quite alot.

Although its nice to work in fwhp, I always tend to work in WHP, its far more accurate as you are not guessing at the transmission losses etc.
The dip on the graph is interesting, were you able to track the AFR during the run?
It looks like something is going wrong at 5.5/6/6.5k

On my Octavia I started off with a DTUK box, to be honest I was massively disappointed. I too work by how fast my bum moves on the seat rather then pub numbers on a piece of paper. However the DTUK box felt quicker to stock but compared to a proper map it was obvious it was under performing. I found it very hit and miss, between 1-3rd gear you would sometimes feel the car pull quicker, but 4th the gear would really get going. I wonder if thats the same in yours.

Once I took it off and had the car mapped it was hugely noticeable just how slow the car was before. The car (originally 220hp) would now after the map dust my sisters Golf R.

I find the DTUK response a bit shit too, I know its not simply about the numbers but on the other hand if I were paying for a claimed power output I would expect to get it or atleast close to it taking into account variables

again sorry I know this had been discussed ALOT

Well regardless of what the figures implied on Dans Dyno run.. . I've fitted the same box today and i think it's a brilliant transformation. Based on a 50mls drive this afternoon the car has loads more grunt .. Still just as silky smooth.. But the extra power and torque makes this car truly rapid now.
The App makes it easy to change from SPORT ...DYNAMIC...EFFICIENCY on the go which results in different ways the power/torque is delivered.
Can be totally switched out back to the cars standard setting .. And an engine warm up period can be set after which it switches in Automatically
Four of us on here that i know are running this... And all four are happy.... Can't all be wrong..
Happy bunny.

Exactly what I feel mick, was cruseing this week at 60 in 6th...turned the box off, floored it....was ok, slowed back down same 60mph 6th sport+3....massive torque gain and pushed me right back in my seat

Which 4?

Dyno still says manufacturer is lying though...

Dan.. Me... A guy in Spain... and someone who doesn't wish to make it common knowledge.. but has communicated with me regarding its performance.

Hi Dan - I had the ECU recall done on my first inspection but the dealership is unable to tell me what actually changed. Did your dealer provide any more information or is this the fuel pump thing?

Well it was me who made the first move after hearing it on here, I called up and they agreed a recall on the ecu, no info on what it was for though

Nice little ez lip fitted today, same as Paul-h. It’s somthing similar to this that I am in the process of moulding for a carbon fibre lip spoiler

A little driveway check aswell just to make sure I don’t write off the carbon splitter after it’s made

Love the look of the car with the lip spoiler

I have the same box, and in the engine tuning-remap forum i shared my opinion about the DTE box at the end of February, that means i might be the first one with this tuning box:
"Guys, I know it is not a remap and you might throw rocks at me but I ordered and installed the DTE power control x tuning box a while ago and have been testing until now. I have driven more than 6000kms and no dash lights errors no overheating no tranny yanking/ problems occured so far. The extra grunt can be felt instantly and with speed logic app i measure constant high13-14,0sec 100-200km/h times compared to the stock 16sec 100-200km/h times, i just achieved every single time. Later i plan on visiting a dyno to check if the car can achieve the numbers promised by DTE."
- I am not visiting a dyno because i don't have the possibility as it is very far from where i live, and to be honest i don't want to. The car just feels quicker and the acceleration times are better than stock according to the measurements. It is enough for me.
@Dan_bush27 Your car looks sick with the black badge! 5/5!
