Should I wait for the upcoming facelift? / I30N Performance new buyer

Looks very nice in my opinion.

But beside, it will probably look like the i30 n-line facelift front.

From a little angle it doesn't look as ugly as directly from the front but still: the grill's size is totally out of proportion in my opinion (and it looks like a Ford Focus). Idk - it looks like most cars on the market but has nothing special - too generic. But you can't argue about individual taste, can you? ;)

looks like they are picking up the fake grills that the type R is trying to get rid of. the only thing that had my interest that i was kinda tempted to wait for was the flappy paddle dual clutch.

The other thing to consider with a digital dash is reliability, everyone knows technology always works.. I like the fact that I have analogue gauges, I just wish I could see oil temp on the infotainment screen not the screen between the gauges, so I could have digital speed on it instead.

Personally I would get one now, you can find some amazing deals and it's not going to be much better in the new one I don't think, they will have a digital dash, maybe 10-20 more horsepower and that's about it. It might have "grin shift" which allows you to control the overboost yourself but that's not really something I think I would miss out on.

I would wait.

If you check new and used prices atm it is highly inflated due to low used and new stock.

It's actually the worst time to buy a new or used car at the moment.

Wait until the new version is announced (surely in the next couple of months), then the current model will lose value and either pounce on that or grab the newer model.

The facelift has led headlights and upgraded interior/infotainment. Rumours are it will also gain some HP. The exterior looks are arguably a downgrade though.

Hi all.

New to this and the i30n has caught my eye. Coming from a golf I look at picking up a 2018 used for about 38k. Considering the face lift is coming up wondering if there is room to squeeze more out from the dealer.

Thanks for your reply. I have been checking on pricing and you are absolutely right, dealers are not really keen to negotiate considering the limited stock available. I thought that with the new model coming soon and what appears to be a sluggish economy I was expecting to grab a good deal. Not the case.

After a week looking around I am not entirely sure....

Yep I know this as I'm also in the market for a hot hatch and have been monitoring prices over the last year.

I'm ready to pull the trigger now but have noticed that Covid has really messed up the car market.

Why would a dealer give a good deal when they aren't getting stock right now. Only thing would be an announcement of a new model which would give the buyer leverage to negotiate more.

In the used market, there were approx 230k used vehicles in April for sale on car sales, it's down to 150k now.

This also inflates pressure on used vehicles too. Not to mention lots of people have with drawn super and have been getting jobseeker payements.

If it's not urgent then waiting may be the best option...
