Disclaimer:
Instructions below are for updating the firmware, software and maps of the Hyundai i30N (PDE N) headunit.
I assume no liability for damages. Everything is at own responsibility!
You have a 7 year free maps update on your new i30N, these updates are made by your official Hyundai dealer only on request. It is wiser to use this free service rather than updating the system by yourself.
The instructions below were successful on my i30N, however it could be these file versions are older than your current versions. You should always check your current version!
These files say EUR, so I am not sure they will work in other continents apart from Europe!

My old version was:
Software: PDEN.EUR.SOP.V085.180104.STD_M (version 85 from 04.01.2018)
Firmware: PDEN.EUR.267.171127.MICOM.DL (version 267 from 27.11.2017) aka very old!
Navigation: DAP.EUR.HMC.170905.2DC47DC (05.09.2017??) aka even older!
Maps: EUR.10.41.46.701.002.2(D.D1)
image44908.jpg
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Files below are:
Software: PDEN.EUR.SOP.V100.181004.STD_M (version 100 from 04.10.2018)
Firmware: PDEN.EUR.287.180914.MICOM.DL (version 287 from 14.09.2018)
Navigation: DAP.EUR.HMC.180928.B5C9193 (28.09.18)
Maps: EUR.11.41.46.704.201.2(D.E2)

So for me this update was a lot newer!

Gear you will need:
  • a computer with at least 50GB of free space
  • Winrar application
  • 1 empty SD card of 32GB formated as FAT32 (very important!) a micro SD with an adapter to normal SD size will also work, as long as it is formatted as FAT32. You could use the OEM maps SD card that came with the car after you backup it's content first on your computer.

Files you will need:
1. Hyundai_EU_All_Software_2019-1.2.rar (for the actual Firmware - and Software update)
2. Hyundai_Gen5.0_Mobis_Map_2019-1.rar (for the current navigation maps)

You can download the files from this site:

Time you will need:

Apart from downloading the files to your computer and extracting them, the updates in the car took me about 30 minutes.

let's get started!

Update Software, Firmware and Navigation;
  1. Download both .rar files on your computer.
  2. Extract both .rar files using Winrar to separate folder on your computer.
  3. Fast format your spare SD card to FAT32 (You could use the OEM maps SD card that came with the car after you backup it's content first on your computer.).
  4. Copy the content from Hyundai_EU_All_Software_2019-1.2 to your spare SD card (place files in the main root, for example F:\).
  5. Go to your car.
  6. Start the engine, wait for the infotainment to load completely.
  7. Eject the OEM Hyundai maps SD card (slot below the touchscreen). Keep it aside for later.
  8. Insert your spare SD card which contains the Hyundai_EU_All_Software_2019-1.2 files.
  9. The system will now popup a message "Press [OK] to update the software...PDEN.EUR.SOP.V100.181004.STD_M" image44909.jpg
  10. Press OK.
  11. The update will now perform. ~30min. The system will reboot a couple of times, this is normal. You don't have to do anything. If you want you can drive the car around, this is no problem.
  12. System will boot but will have no navigation maps (logical since we ejected the maps SD card).
That's it! Very easy
Software, Firmware and Navigation are now updated!

Only thing left to update are the navigation maps them self.

Update navigation maps
  1. Put the OEM Hyundai maps SD card in your computer.
  2. Backup all files from this SD card to your hard drive (place them somewhere safe just in case).
  3. Fast format your OEM Hyundai maps SD card to FAT32.
  4. Copy the content of Hyundai_Gen5.0_Mobis_Map_2019-1 to your OEM SD card (place files in the main root, for example F:\).
  5. Insert the OEM SD card in the car.
  6. The new GPS maps are automatically detected. This SD card needs to stay in the slot.
Done! :)

When all above steps are successful your info screen should look like this:
image44910.jpg

These fixes and new features I have noticed since the update:

Fader bug fix! No more resetting the fader from now on. The audio screen looks a bit different
image44914.jpg

New Live traffic button during navigation
image44911.jpg

New button to delete current track in the media player
image44912.jpg

Fuel price function in the information menu. Sort by distance or price!
image44913.jpgimage44915.jpg

Parking prices function in the information menu. Choice between park on roadside or inside.
image44913.jpgimage44916.jpg

All I can say is these updates are really easy and straight forwards. The new features are amazing and very useful. Good job Hyundai!

EDIT 13th of November 2021:

Hyundai is now finally offering the update software for Europe as well.

Just head to their website and select the region you are in in the upper right corner. Download the update tool and use it to select the right software.

Greets,
Jeroen
Many thanks for the walk through, and will be doing mine in the next few days, so much less hassle than trying to get the dealers to do it, but in the US they can download directly from the Hyundai website.

Just a query on which maps to download, and at the beginning you mention a different map of the (Hyundai_Gen5.0_LGE_Map_2019-1.rar) to later on when you say.

Copy the content of Hyundai_Gen5.0_Mobis_Map_2019-1 to your OEM SD card.
Which one is the correct one please?

Thanks for reporting this fault. You need Hyundai_Gen5.0_Mobis_Map_2019-1.rar.
I have fixed the post ;)

Let me know how you get on with it and if it works ok on our UK cars, as I'd like to do mine too :)

Did mine this afternoon, took about 20 mins to update the firmware and software. Just copying the map data to a spare SD card to use in the car. Keeping the original intact just in case.

Thanks to Jeroen for the walkthrough and the discovery of the website that had all the files.

This is on a UK car and previously I was on exactly the same versions as outlined above.

Just noticed the new "voice memo" option, anyone know how to use it?

Great to hear! Glad I could help :)

I used the OEM Hyundai SD card for the maps. Just in case the gps fails over time they can't blame me for messing with the system ;)

Good idea.

But I just did some testing on the OEM SD card and a new SanDisk one and it was about half the speed of the SanDisk, so that's the one I used in the car.

Thanks for posting the torrents - got the files now.;)

I have completed the software update and it went smoothly - probably 15-20 minutes from the minute you insert the SD card in the car.

I have backed up the original Nav maps and I am in the process of copying the newer versions onto the SD card. I've got a nice journey tomorrow so I'll report back on the update then.

Thanks again to the OP as this minimises the inconvenience of having my car left with a dealer, and it provides useful updates ahead of schedule for most. Thank you.

There is another way to update the Navi system. There is a map card slot that holds an SD map card. The new upgraded firmware card can be purchased thru Hyundai's Navigation Service provider. I'm not sure if yours is in the front or on the back of the head unit. If it's in the front there will be a small rectangular plug covering it. On the back of the unit, it will be in the center under a small removable rectangular plug.

In the US the company is MNSoft https://www.mapnsoft.com/hyundai/ This service is available to free subscribers included in your extended warranty program and for a fee for non-subscribing Hyundai owner. In the US we receive free update for 3 years, with the Platinum extended warranty plan, 5 years. As a subscriber you can choose to download or replace the SD card thru MNSoft.

During your service visits, you can also request the update if available and the dealer will install the new Navigation Firmware or replace the SD Card free of charge. You are able to elect this service thru the navigation providers website or your dealership service department.

You may have as similar service available to you in UK, Europe, Australia, Asia. For some this is a better alternative then downloading and then uploading the new firmware to the present SD Card.. I suggest, you contact your countries or regions Hyundai Customer Service and inquire. You can also inquire at your dealership service department. This may be worth your while.

Did a bit more reading on that website and have now updated my map to V D.F2 from D.E2. The map is dated 22.7.2019 I believe.
There's a download link that allows you to retrieve a file from a drop box account, the one you need is called MappeNavLuglio2019.zip. it can be downloaded from here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ce2e9p92...MappeLuglio2019?dl=0&subfolder_nav_tracking=1

The thing is the map is not the needed mobis, but a LGE. You need a PC for the next bit, extract the files you just downloaded to a folder on your PC, once done open that folder and delete the vr and TTS folders in there, also delete the HKMC_Navi_LCN.apk file. Now go to your download of the mobis map as outlined by Jeroen in the opening post and from there copy the VR folder to this location as well as the HKMC_Navi.apk file, these all go into the root of the SD card.you don't need to bother with the file ending in md5, that's just a checksum file. Copy all of this folder to your SD card and you should have a file list like this,1571598412072.pngand install into car, you should get this screen now.

Okay, potential dumbass question time.

Can both firmware and maps be put on the one SD card to start with and then the same card just stays in car?
eg
1) Take OEM map card out.
2) insert new card with has had new firmware and maps extracted on there.
3) update the firmware first then
4) just update maps from same card directly afterwards and card stays in.

Would they both fit on a 64gb card?

No, the firmware runs on its own, remove the SD card, back it up, format it as fat32, copy the extracted software files into it, put engine on, insert SD and run update, takes about fifteen mins, when done, reformat SD card and then copy latest mobis map into it having extracted the files from the rar first, insert into car, then you're all set.

Perfect! All clear now, but bloody hell its taking longer than I thought to get the files. About 3 hours to download torrents and then about another 2 hours to extract the .rar files?!

Thought it would be all done in half hour :D

The time for the torrent download is about right, the rar extraction depends on disk and cpu speed, mine took about 15 mins to extract but about 25 mins to copy to the sd card, don't try to extract directly to the card as it will be slow.
