Exhaust- / Sound Discussion

If you're using Chrome and have fiddled with the settings, make sure that under site-settings under sound (atleast on mobile) you have whitelisted the sites that can play sound.

Sorry my sarcasm didn’t quite come across as intended! I can hear the car in the video, sounds like one of these pop & crackle maps which sounds unbelievably tacky IMO

Relax, guys & gals, it was a test tune for fiddling with pop randomness, it doesn’t currently operate in that configuration.

I'd bloody hope not!

In all seriousness, @Bigbruiseral just said his had quietened down a bit after a fill up, nobody was kicking off about it.

Please don’t go down the VAG tuning route of more pops and bangs are better! We don’t need to be tarred with that brush! Had an S1 do that next to me the other day and it sounded horrendous!

The overall point I was trying to make is E85 is roughly 110 RON and since higher octane means more resistance to detonation, you just need to get the exhaust a bit hotter to induce stronger crackles, so...

Drive more aggressively.
:cool:

Sitting @ 7000kms right now and I more often than not get 4-5+ pops. Always fuel up with 98 super unleaded and have a resonator delete. This video is before the TMC tunebox install and I think the cars become a lot louder with more Km's since.

Might make another video after this afternoons Dyno run :)

@J BOB I use momentum usually and it’s always been good. Argh snow, we had snow!! With you on the tyres, looking forward to ditching them!!

@Bigbruiseral hopefully!

Due for fuel-up and road trip today. Only fed her 95 until now and same km on the odo as @Stash-N , will try some 98 today but not expecting noticable difference in exhaust sound (or anything else really).
Sooo, burned through two tanks of 98 and hardly any difference in sound. Bit less of a bark on 2nd to 3rd upshift if anything. Loving this car.

My dealer said to me when I picked up the car not to put in anything less than 98 cos it ain’t good for the engine, so that’s all I’ve been using, is this true?
