Yesterday I fitted the ITG air box and heat shield kit - you can also get a replacement intake pipe but I opted not to have this.

what you get in the box is two main components. 1/ the filter itself, you can opt for a conical foam or a pleated cotton design. I chose the foam as I believe it is better at filtering small particles. This filter comes already mounted in an aluminium can that vents at one end. 2/ the heat shield, this is also made from aluminium (actually, I’ll check on that) and powder coated to match the filter can. It has two edges protected by rubber - one is where the filter can pokes through and is supported and the other is where the bonnet closes - this is thicker and more compliant. It also comes with three allen Head machine screws and matching penny washers and compression washers - all the fixing hardware is stainless steel. What you don’t get is any form of instructions or, most importantly, the 5.5 allen key you will need…. Oh, you also get two hose clamps but, as I kept the standard hose, I didn’t use them.

so the quality of the parts is very good and a dry fit suggested that the heat shield was a good fit but….
obviously the first thing to do is remove the standard air box. This is super easy to to, take out two press studs that hold the snorkel in place and then three bolts (size 10 I think) hold the box to the car. Oh, you have to undo the hose clamp that connects the input hose. If you undo the clamp too much the clamping mechanism will fall apart into it’s individual components and disappear into the engine bay…. so pay attention and don’t let that happen (as it did to me). Twist the box to help remove it. You also have to remove a screw to the front as that point is also used to mount the heat shield.

there is a problem with the ITG though, and that is solely the problem of screwing in the mounting hardware. The way the heat shield is angled means that it creates very little space for big hands to squeeze through and equally little space to turn an allen key! It can be done, but it really is very awkward and a massive PITA!

after fitting it’s neat and nothing needs bending or bodging to fit. Driving is, well, much as before. It’s very quiet except for a telltale chirp/yip noise when you lift off the accelerator. You can hear this in the cabin when driving along and it’s quite audible. I’ll have to see if it happens in Eco and standard mode - I’ve only tried it in N so far.

Hello YNWaN

After this mod, did you notice better response in performance terms? The noise is much louder than stock?

Thank you

PS: By the way, my sound system is much better after the insulation, DSP amplifier and Helix Subwoofer. But what a difference. Thank you

Fantastic to hear your sound system is much improved - I must say I love the sound of mine 🥰👍. As for the ITG filter, I can’t say I noticed any great performance gains. Perhaps it’s a touch more responsive to the throttle, though I already have a pedal box fitted and that makes the accelerator very responsive. I’ve also got a DTUK tuning box and that makes a big difference too. The sound is cool with the ITG filter and I’m enjoying it so much I have now bought the matching induction hose. Unfortunately, the weather is so unpleasant I haven’t fitted it yet!IMG_7275.jpeg

The all ITG kit have good aspect. My only concern is void the guarantee, here in Portugal. The only one possible is the pipercross Kit that are sold by hyundaizubehor germany and the we can certificate the kit on our car license (that's Portugal). But the ITG seem's to me much better constructed and the filter is protected by a housing on ITG. In Pipercross is clearly opened and i don't trust at all on open filters, dust to motor and turbo is a free way.

ITG is from Australia correct?

Any sound clips of this on the car?

How does air actually get to the intake, as all other filters have it coming in though the rectangular hole but this looks like it blocks it off. Any noticeable difference in running temperature?
Well it draws the air from the area just in front of the wheel well where it’s furthest from the engine.
Running temperatures are just fine but I wouldn’t expect the air intake to make much difference to them no matter how good or bad.
As a side note, my post was from some time ago and my car is now stage 3 tuned to 300 bhp. It still uses the same ITG intake and temperatures are still fine.
