Hi all,

Just put a deposit on my i30n performance today. Just wondered what everybody's car history was upto this point.

I passed my test in 2005 and started with a few Corsa Bs (1.2 8v and a 1.4 SRi)
Mk2 Fiat Punto
MG ZR
Then another Corsa (But a C this time)
My first performance car was a Renault Megane Sport. Which was very nice but had to go to make room for moving out.
Then a Ford Mondeo Titanium X Diesel
Seat Leon FR diesel
2015 Ford Fiesta ST3
My current Car is a 2016 Ford Focus ST3 250

Between me and my dad we have also had 5 rally cars including a Vauxhall Nova and Subaru Impreza.FB_IMG_1517697255777.jpg FB_IMG_1517697306644.jpg

peugeot 205 xs
renault clio rsi
peugeot 206 gti
ford fiest ST 150
renault clio rs 197
seat leon cupra R 1p

  • Talbot Sunbeam LS (bought from my mum)
  • 1994 Nissan Micra 1.0L (huge fun - the car that made me interested in cars!)
  • 1996 Nissan Micra 1.3SR (amazing driving lamps)
  • 1998 Nissan Almera GTi (best handling car I've ever owned, fabulous grunty engine too)
  • 1999 Subaru Impreza STi 6 (easily the fastest thing I've owned, weighed nothing, unshakeable grip... serious turbo lag!)
  • 2003 Nissan 350Z coupé
  • 2006 Nissan 350Z roadster (mk2 "rev up" engine, fantastic noise, terrible fuel consumption!)
  • 2008 Nissan 350Z Nismo coupé (mk3 "High Rev" engine, the engine it should've had from the start)
  • 2011 Nissan 370Z GT Edition coupé (brilliant but somehow lost the 350Z's je ne sais quoi")
  • 2017 Hyundai i30 N Performance

Some nice cars on the list.
We were looking at 350z for a drift/track car as they are reasonably priced.

The pops and bangs of the i30 reminds me of my old scooby

Nothing major for me - I only passed my test in 2006 when I was 27 so cars before that were my wife’s.

2001 Vauxhall Corsa (just a 1 litre I think, did the job)
2002 Peugeot 206cc (1.6. We though we were so cool with this car. To be fair, it was pretty awesome at the time)
2005 Honda Civic Sport (great looking car and still my favourite iteration of the Civic)
2006 BMW 3 series 318ES (my wife always wanted a BMW - nice car, Japan Red, think I was driving at this point)
2006 Citroen C4 (automatic - practical etc, we were skint at this point so downsizing etc)
2002 Skoda Fabia (this was MY car - an absolute tank. Never broke down. 60mpg and a clutch that was ‘on it’s way out’ for about 3 years!!)
2011 Citroen C1 (what was I thinking? Kept for 6 months, tin can. Avoid)
2012 New Honda Civic Sport.(again, thought we were cool. Looked lovely I must admit but this car would not pull you out of bed, so under powered it wasn’t funny, lots of trips back to the garage as well, wife ended up hating this car)
2014 Kia Pro Ceed GT (this car got me into performance at a late age - very underrated and a fantastic first effort from Kia. First car ive ever really cared about)
2018......you know!!

Only 21, so not too many!

Mercedes A180d - (after passing my test, found an incredible lease deal on a red one with the AMG body styling pack, a beautiful, but very slow car, an amazing first beginning to driving)
Polo GTI MK9 - About to go back, I drove a friend’s about a year into my driving life and decided this was the car for me. Utterly loved it, it’s been immense!

My brother owns a car journalism magazine so in between I’ve driven many cars, Golf R, Clubsport S, Civic Type R.

Liking the rally cars. Where did you compete?

We mainly did single venues around the midlands but did do the BTRDA rally first championship for half a year until we had to stop the season due to things out of our control....

Always wanted to do Mull. Looks a cracking event

I’ve done it 4 times co-driving but never actually driven it! Seriously good event!

Only actually driven in 5 rallies, usually co-drive in another metro GTi.
