Tom's Ecotronic Gray

Things to note.

Speed warning cannot be complete muted and has to be disabled every time you start the car. Seems crazy they force this annoyance in a car they crammed 641 BHP into.

IONIQ 5 N still susceptible to the squeaking boot lid on all Ioniq 5's due to loosely fitted side guide bumpers. Google 23-BD-006H, this should return a Hyundai technical services builtin.

Still haven't figured out the best settings for 0-60 yet but I've had a 3.38 so far. Without battery conditioning and N Race enabled so im sure there's more in it.

Also I guessed it from the wheelbase but the thing is like a tardis. So much more cabin space than the outgoing X3M Competition.

Its annoying yes, according to the sales person I spoke with it was required to comply with EU regulative.

Huh, interesting. We don't have this in the US...that is, it can be disabled and stay off...

Wish i could....Apparently the EU regulation is not yet enforced but it's still this way. Wouldn't mind we're not even in the EU!

Car looks ace, exactly what I ordered on my works salary sacrifice scheme and then cancelled due to range anxiety about the N that I need to clear up before I decide whether to get one or not.

I've got a model 3 performance at the moment, my commute is 90 miles each way, 88 of which are motorway up the M42/M1. I get there and back in the Tesla at 70mph with between 15 & 25% remaining (largely temperature/rain dependent). Have you done any decent motorway trips in your N? how does it fare? does Eco mode make much difference on long trips? I really don't want to be forced into stopping on the way home from work to be honest, work don't have any chargers nearby sadly. Car is perfect for me in every other way. I've read pretty much any review/video I can find that seem to suggest 170 to 250 in range tests which is a huge spread of results, the worst of which rules the car out and the best of which make it sound fine. I dont really want to enter into a lease and then find I cant even go to work and back without stopping. Really interested to know what UK real world motorway range is if I can find anyone who's done some..... :)

I've done a trip from Manchester to Hull and back 193 miles in cooler temperature (5 celcius) with 15% charge left. And a longer trip to Brands Hatch in 18 degrees which was 246 miles. I would have made it on a single charge but I stopped off part way and topped up so I had range to ferry about to bluewater and hotel etc.. The range isn't amazing but so far no issues from me. My X3M wasn't much better... I'd like to see more regen but kinda expected with the power in this thing. I'll post some long trip figures when I do some

hmm, anecdotally that sounds like it would be no worse than my current M3P. Manchester/Hull is mostly M62, Manchester to brands would have been all motorway too. Thanks for that, first real uk insight into real motorway range. did you drive normally or use any kind of eco mode hypermiling behind HGV's at 56mph? :). I assume you started at 100% battery for that? its been so hard to find anything, other than trying to reverse engineer YouTube reviews battery charge vs. guess-o-meter range which seems pretty pointless on most cars I've found, never mind journo cars being clattered around canyons and circuits, which to be fair is the real reason we're all buying this car.

How are you finding the car otherwise? anything to look out for? I've read the comments above about annoying speed nanny beeps that can't be disabled on EU cars which is a shame, but applicable to all cars now I guess. I sat in one for the first time yesterday and was really impressed with the fit/finish compared to a Hyundai I had only a few years back, and night and day better than my aging Tesla.

Might get back on the order bus tomorrow, my local dealer told me there is plenty of UK stock at the moment.

The hull trip is was 70 mph all the way with the occasional 80 mph but being well behaved mostly. The Brands Hatch trip was mainly 75 -80 but there was quite a few 50 zones and traffic so the worked in EV favour a bit. Both trips in normal. Don't see much point in Eco tbh. It might improve range a little I guess but I prefer the instant performance to annoy rapid ICE vehicles that spring up at my side so leave it in a more rounded setting for every day use.

So far loving the car now that the boot rattle/squeak is fixed. My three Kids have loads more room in the back than in the X3M boot is a little smaller but still big enough for a pram and a bernese mountain dog. Perfect family car really, but when I'm on my own it's straight in N mode e-shift and ignition, then it becomes easy to misbehave.

Oh and make sure your on Octopus Energy Intelligent Go, with a smart charger. I disconnect and plug in every morning to get 12 hours of 7.5p /kw each day whether I charge or not. Makes my energy bills cheaper overall just doing that.

already on that with the Tesla, need to replace my charger though, octopus can control the Tesla, but not my old pod-point, they say Hyundai cars don't work with it so you need a charger they can control. was thinking of a Zappi or Ohme.

Mines Zappi 2.0, my neighbour has a tesla and swapped to a smart (Zappi) charger so that he could generate a larger cheaper charging window like mine. Problem with smart charging with a Tesla is that that car tells Octopus how much it needs. My charger asks for 100% charge by 4am every time I plug it regardless of the cars battery level, so it gives me a huge cheap charging window.

that sounds better, yeah the Tesla is too clever for that, they communicate directly with the car not the charger, so they can tell what the battery state is, assume that with a charger they can do nothing but start/stop the charger. will order a zappi as well I think...

ps. sorry to contaminate your owners thread with my ramblings.... but good insight so thanks :)

Im ordering a new 5N. Looking for some advice on colour if you could asssit.

Blue and Orange are out of the question for football reasons...

Matte is our of the question due to - (no idea how to maintain Matte)

So its Abyss Black Pearl , Cyber Grey Metallic or Atlas White Gloss. Any recommednations from those who already have these colours would be very much appreciated :)
