Engine Spark plugs

Finally changed my spark plugs too, seems like one of the service techs got lazy and skipped out on the spark plug change even though I'm at ~115k km right now.

Went with HKS M45XLs, but didn't manage to check the gap and/or re-gap em... After reading a bit in here I should probably go with HKS M40XLs since my car's not tuned for the plugs.

Anyways, have some pics of the condition of the original plugs:

Pretty much all of them looked like this ^

Any other recommendations?

Those still look in great shape.

I have got up to 160,000km out of platinum plugs but what goes is the platinum on the earth side and then it really begins to blast the earth electrode which is clearly visible. The ones above still appear to have some left on the electrode so the gap is still being maintained.

Yep that brown "Halo" indicates they have not been changed, certainly not some 15,000km ago. Colour of the used plug is good and no oil present on the threads is good.

Honest opinion is the car would have gone on for miles more but at least the plugs on this car will be easy to change.

Possibly the worst engines is the Subaru H6 where it takes hours as there is no clearance between the cylinder head and the chassis and a V6 where the back 3 require the intake manifold to be removed.

Cannot beat the inline 4 like my MR2 its like a 20 minute job.

Original ones look Double Platinum and the HKS are iridium ?

Can I ask you a question I myself purchased the HKS M40XL as I have a standard no remap. I believe my plugs come gapped to 0.6 or 0.7 should I gap them or leave them as be maybe check they are all the same gap, what would you advise. If I should gap them would you happen to know what that gap should be as I read somewhere on these forums it was between 1.0 to 1.1mm.
