How To: Headunit firmware & GPS navigation maps update

I have an i20N and the car's software version is BC3N.EUR.S5W_L.001.001.210817 which means it was last updated at 17.08.2021. I know that the latest available update version is BC3N.EUR.S5W_L.001.001.220623, around 5 months ago which is way newer than mine. When I check Navigation Updater it just says "Download for this vehicle is not yet available" without even asking me my current version. Any ideas why it does that? Anyone experienced something like this before?

Thanks in advance.

I am getting a similar experience - my Kona N had 2021 firmware although it was a 2022 vehicle.

A month or so ago I managed to find the May 2022 update and installed that OK, I think.

Now we have the release of the November 2022 software the Kona and Kona EV are listed in the available updates but not the Kona N?

It's almost as if they remove any vehicle from the "available" list that does not (yet?) have the latest release available with no regard to the fact that someone, like yourself, who has even older software might be glad just to get the previous version!

Just a theory?

ITS POSSIBLE!
ok guys, i sat opposite to my radio and finaly found a way trial and error method on my car. Was a bit scared but after few reboots it working. I have second sd card with previous update from MAY 2022. From the Settings > Update you have got a popup, saying that older version cant be updated, but:

1. Insert SD card with older firmware
2. Go to Settings > Update and go to engneering mode (5 taps on the left side of UPDATE button and then 2 on the right side)
3. Type password, for me its 2702.
4. Go to USB Copy section
5. Click force update
6. voila!

i dont have already that ugly concept car with strange circles in N custom mode. And i also think it should work for all old versions with root ability etc.

ENJOY your rolling back!
Hey man, if this really works please make a how to. Many people asked for this in the past. thanks :D

The updates are available again. I just downloaded mine. Can you check yours as well? @woodbar

I've received email from my dealership on last Friday saying that update for i30 N FL is not ready yet.
Even now, if I check supported vehicles, i30 N FL is missing:

The "2020 i30 N" is the FL. It also already shows the new version number "001.001.221129", which is available for download.
I will update tomorrow and report back.

I can confirm that the update for my 2022 i30N FB is available now - just downloaded it but not sure when I will have the time to apply it yet.

Just downloaded now it's available for my Kona N - before I install it anyone know what it has fixed and, more importantly, what it has broken or removed?

Updated my KonaN today. Total time 57 minutes, consisting of 20 minutes of verification at idle then a further 37 minutes updating in the 'off' state. Now have some extra 'plinky plonky' Media, and the driving mode 'pop out' image (of the car) when you change modes is now a non-descript grey vehicle 'blob' with not as much detail.

Hi, I've already read about the gray spot. could you possibly upload pictures of the display ... sry for google translator

There seems to be an update for the i20N - downloaded it to a USB this evening. Will probably install it tomorrow.

Just updated mine and haven't noticed anything much except for one thing so far - the Bluelink app now shows my odometer as 0km, even though the car itself shows a value when I check it. When I was leaving my friends house after the upgrade it showed as 0km, I drove home and when I checked again it showed the correct reading. An hour or so later and even after refreshes it's back at 0km.

Everything else the app reports I think is fine but I haven't had time to test anything else out.

Oh, and I don't think it's necessarily the app, as I also monitor with my Home Assistant server and it also does the same and flips between 0 and the correct reading.

Hmm, I see what you mean.

Less than impressive and the new cars look like they are fitted with space saver wheels!

There is now an update that replaces 220623 and that is 221129 (I installed this to my i20N a few days ago). I’m not sure if your problem is to do with being in Turkey but I use some specific updater software I downloaded from Hyundai. You register your car with it and it knows what software version you are running and if it can be updated - very easy to use.
