Seriously they keep talking about the ST i wanna see a track battle between the i20n and the GR yaris.. Hear me out.. the hype says the yaris is the fastest car ever made.. but from what ive seen the i30n is comfortably a match for the wrx on a track, and the wrx absolutely smokes the GR yaris, also i was catching GR yaris's in my i30n at my last track day fairly easily. and the i20n is only a couple seconds slower than the i30n.. i reckon it would actually be pretty close, althought the yaris will win out slightly which is fine! throw a tune at the i20n and it would be as fast if not faster than the i30n.. which in turn definitely puts it quicker than the yaris at a track, for half the moneys and an extra cylinder.

I have my fingers crossed the little 1.6 is a properly built little engine that can take some gusto with some tuning, but time will tell, and im probably wrong.

I hear you, would be an interesting battle, but even if you tuned the i20N and it managed to beat the GR around the track, it’s still not the better car, not by a long shot, Toyota built that car from the ground up, the hype around it is valid because its so dam good, it’ll be worth a fortune in yrs to come..

depends on your version of the better car, Mine is performance per dollar and since its slower than most of the hot hatches, the wrx and the old evo 10 they stopped making ages ago i dont see the hype.

i see a cool project that was killed by emissions forcing it into a 3cyl.

Like albert beirmann has eluded to previously at that power level awd is more of a hinderance. and with the fanboy hype it will be worth something at some stage so you would be crazy to mod it up.

Nothing wrong with a 3 pot, it’s easily the favourite part of my car, and is outright speed the only thing that determines which car is better though? Most people don’t live on a track or a drag strip, and AWD is a huge advantage, not only in the wet and it’s handling, but you can get a lot more power down, I’m pretty sure if Mr Biermann built and AWD i30N, most people in here would be falling over themselves to get one, are you telling me that AWD in a Focus RS is a hindrance? I think many would disagree..

im not saying the yaris isnt a great piece of kit its awesome to have a small awd turbo hatch. im saying that the i20n is half the price for 90% of the performance stock for stock.

Considering my last track day was in the wet and i was chasing the yaris' down i dont think AWD iss a big advantage at the power level the yaris' are at, the focus RS is a much more powerful car. 300hp and up AWD defintely has its adavantages, as someone with a few years under his belt in a evo i can definitely atest to that.

I20n being 35 grand i dont even care about a warranty, the RS is a nightmare outside warranty. The Yaris would be awesome with some mods but im not sure modding it is a great idea at 60 grand local price.

Even the new facelift DCT i would worry about messing with outside warranty at 52k on road.

Yes I definitely agree about not messing with the DCT i30N, no way would I do anything with that inside the warranty period, to many unknowns with it yet, and we’ve all seen the problems VW and Ford had in the early days, but with the GR, it’s such a difficult car to compare others with, It just sits out on its own, i20N, Fiesta ST or Polo GTI isn’t fair.. but I get what yr saying, tune these cars and you might beat it on a track for a lot less money spent..

Managed to get a test drive of an i20N and an i30N DCT, and the i20N is a total joy (the DCT gearbox is genuinely brilliant on the i30N).

OH has ended up buying one 😂😂

Is it just mine or does no one else have a "handle to grab" above the drivers seat? There is definitely space in the ceiling (above the window), but nothing to grab on to get out easily. It is on the other 3 doors.

He’s ordering the i20N to replace his abarth. I’m thinking of the DCT. Deal is nowhere near good enough for me to trade in my current I30N, especially if we bought two.

Mine doesn’t even have it on the passenger side, but the seats are so heavily bolstered you can’t move anyway lol, unless you need them to get out of course..

Hi, does anyone know how to make the split screen of android auto work?

I have activated the developer mode and set the resolution to 1080 but the second application still does not appear on the right side.

Presume that was a UK dealer?

I put in a test drive request two months ago and heard nothing further. Been back in contact with the local dealer again and they still don't seem to know if they have a demo of not - awaiting a further call back. There seems quite a lack of awareness of N cars at dealerships. I enquired about the i30N when it first came out and the local dealership hadn't a clue.

At the moment I'm also trying to get a drive in a GR Yaris and am not having much joy there either!
