i20N - Reviews, General Discussion & Info

It will be more fun to drive than the i30N, no doubt about it, dropping around 350kgs makes a massive difference, but I can’t get into it’s looks just yet, but from what I’ve seen already, if I was to buy another N car, I think I’d go for the i30N sedan, I love the look of that, it’s also got a really nice interior as well, the only thing I wish Hyundai would stop doing is putting that red shit at the bottom of there N cars, maybe I’m just getting older and like them a bit more understated? but it just makes them look cheap and too try hard, I’ll be putting a wrap over it if I get another one..
Just buy a red one, than the stripings are black. Problem solved 😁😉

I'm driving mine since 2 days now and it is pure fun. Interior is extremely well done, seats comfy, entertainment has everything I could ask for, driving in 2nd and 3rd gear + Nmode is just mad (! in a good way) once oil temp is ready. We were driving the autobahn and my girlfriend was checking on the phone for a sec and thought we were driving 130, but were actually at 200. She was surprised a) how silent and b) how relaxed the car was for that quick acceleration. The suspension is really "sporty" and you can tell the difference between front and back of coin if you would drive over one :D. The car looks great in person, but maybe the back could be just a tiny, tiny bit "cleaner", but what gives. I understand what n-raged means with the red lines, but for when I walk back to it from the supermarket, the car as a whole just looks damn nice.

Can definitely recommend.
Thank you for first hand feedback! It sounds awesome and I really forward to mine (even more now). It really sounds like a super fun car. I know one have to live with the sporty suspension of course (not being adaptive) but it is OK for normal daily city and countryside driving as well? Is its very noise in normal and eco mode (I know it is in N and that's great).

Works just fine for now as daily city cruiser and it suspension is ok for our age (~29, #nobackpain). Tomorrow is the big weekly supermarket shopping tour and I can report how that went regarding storage ;)

Noise is absolutely acceptable, don't worry. You can customize both N buttons to have 1 with low exhaust sound and the other for more vrrrrummmm. In the city we drive with eco mode and don't play with gas at traffic lights. Even during normal drive we did not receive any weird looks by neighbors or pedestrians 👍. But I would guess with full exhaust and 2nd gear you can make heads turn easily if you want to 😁.

You are getting me pumped with hipe, mine will arrive in 1 week. Regarding the engine and oil temps did you notice something weird? like high temps?

Not yet, but will keep an eye on it and let you know if I spot anything weird. We are trying to "drive in" the engine for the first 1000km, but not sure if that is an amateur move hehe

Me either, but i will do that to mine, will keep it under 4000 rpm for the first km's. But I will ask on my dealer what is the recomendation

Good idea but I don’t like the shade of Red they have, I loved the engine red on the i30N but I’m not into this new sunset red or whatever they call it? No I’d probably go with black too tone it down a bit and black out the red trim at the bottom, But I’ll definitely check one of these out when it’s finally out here and see how it stacks up against my FiST..

I also drive a FiST atm and trading it in for the i20N in about 3 weeks when my order arrives :)

Already test drove a few times (as i work for a Hyundai dealer). Acceleration is pretty the same. 0-140 the i20N is a bit quicker (like 1s), while 140-200 the FiST turns out to bit a bit quicker.

0-100 i did 6,27 in the i20N, while 6,81 in my FiST.

100-200 19,91 in the i20N and 19,55 in my FiST.

But only done with Speed Logic as i dont have a dragy Box. Suspension feels about the same. Cornering is significantly better in the i20N. Seats i like the ST3 Recaro more.

There really isnt a lot of difference Ive seen a colour match and if you look at the videos and pics that are about. Whats not to like 🤷‍♂️

Plus added bonus no over the top red stripes along the skirting 👍

Just ordered a Blue Performance today 😀
There’s a 3 months delay before I can put my hands on it.

From what I've seen the i20N will have two custom modes. Are you able to configure which speedo type (normal, sport, eco) or are you stuck to the N-mode speedo (image)?

Which country are you living in and when you ordered if you can tell me please? I live in Czech Republic, ordered two months ago as the car was available for the order but I got told it will be 6 months. The waiting is killing me, even more with your reviews!

Thanks for that info mate, yeh with those times theres nothing in it really, you wouldnt notice it between the two, Ive got a mountune m235 map on mine anyway so the stock times dont mean much to me, plus ive got the Eibach Redline springs as well and the car feels spot on, ill still test drive one tho out of curiosity but its highly doubtful ill make the switch, I just much prefer the look of the Fiesta ST thats all, and yes the Recaro's in it are awesome..

Looks way better without the red on the skirting, shame its not the same for all the colours, all youd have to fix then is that shit looking spoiler stuck on the roof..

.de, it was the dealers showcase car which we basically drove as first ones (had 15kms on it) and bought right there after lengthy testdrive. They say next ones arrive November for them (maybe some sooner).

Btw we now have ~450km on it and fuel says 7.7/100km (previous i20 was at 6.8 after 45.000km), with a good mix of eco/normal and N-Mode Autobahn. For me that is pretty ok.

@drendydoo I didn't see an option yet to get a different speedo for the N-mode (1 or 2). There are 4 speedos, one for each (eco, normal, sport, N-mode).

Thanks for the info mate! Yeah I am counting on that delivery date, I went for Blue Pearl, I guess I have 4 months to gather all the informations, but with your positive feedbacks I think I chose right.
