I don't know how much information all the sites actually share with each other considering they are all UK based but after reading multiple of these the point about the engine being nothing special has stuck because it has appeared in many of them.

i20N Smartstream Engine

The engine is a smart stream dual port injection 1.6T 4 cylinder. Which is a completely new engine apart from the 1.6T Gamma II GDI engine.
Thanks for this post. I have tried to find out (unsuccessfully) about the injection in the i20N engine. Do you have a link for information on this? I would love to find out more.
I think it's the same 1.6 at core but a modified newer application. Eg. I don't think the Kia Ceed has CVVD and 350 bar injection pressure etc.
It’s a new smart stream 1.6T dual port engine. You can see it in the engine bay photos and videos. It even says soon the valve cover. This is not a GDI Gamma II engine.
Any one have a idea of the engine tuning potential without changing internal elements? lets say 30 hp more
Unfortunately its too early as yet to say. I wouldn't be surprised if 20-30bhp is achievable with a map and air filter though we now have the GPF to limit use too with Euro 6.2 engines.
Does anyone know if this engine is the Smartstream G1.6T (G4FP) engine?

if they use the Dual Fuel Injection + Center Injection system then there shouldn't be much carbon build up.

The engine does not use dual fuel injection. It only has 1 direct injector per cylinder, though positioned in a way that the fuel should be sprayed over the intake valve and thus helping it stay clean of carbon buildup. Of course nobody knows how much this engine is going to be prone to carbon buildup, especially with the egr system in place.

DPFI uses two injectors for each intake port to better maintain the stable air/fuel ratio in the mixer, which also improves the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) ratio, with benefits to the fuel economy. In addition, further atomization of fuel droplets mitigated spray evaporation, which reduced the emission of harmful particulate matter (PM).
*Models with DPFI: Smartstream G1.0 / G1.2 / 1.6

This applies to G1.0 / G1.2 / 1.6 only, which are naturally aspirated engines. The G1,6T-GDi found in the i20N does not have DPFI and is a completely different engine to the n/a
No sorry but your mistaken, it includes the 1.6 & 1.6T.
Argue with Hyundai about their Smart Stream engine configuration. This is the NEW smart stream engine with DPFI. The Smart Stream only comes with DPFI. It’s not configured as a GDI.
The older GDI, which is the Gamma II GDI engine configuration which was also a 1.6 & 1.6T.

Hyundai Australia, (when questioned on their Instagram pages) has given me a "kangaroo in the headlights" reaction when asked directly about this point. They are clueless on this point and seem to be retailers and little more. They have repeatedly said that it has a GDI engine but have avoided commenting on whether it has dual-point injection, even when asked the direct question.
Do you have any information from the dervice manual that you mentioned about the 6 speed manual gearbox? Is it the same unit that has been used in any other Hyundai or Kia models? When questioned (again on their Instagram pages) Hyundai Australia have no idea on this one either.
I would like to know that it is a proven and robust unit that is glitch-free (e.g.like when engaging 5th or 6th gear as reported many times by I30N owners)
