My Kona N has gone

Yesterday I said goodbye to the beloved Kona, after much deliberating I moved her on for something that suits my painful back, the state of the roads now don't help much either so I need something that at least tries to absorb some of it and that seats me in a more comfortable position. I could never quite get a good seating adjustment setting

I have put some bits & bobs on the market place that may be of use.

I tried hard to justify keeping the Kona, even moving to 18" wheels etc and even the Mando unit, but the unit quite simply don't make a big enough level of adjustment for me to be comfortable, so had to do the dreaded deed.

Yes, I will miss it but I need to try for a more pain free driving experience.

Only just noticed this - sorry you had to lose the Kona N but I can understand - horses for courses!

I expect the Superb feels like a featherbed after the N!

Funnily enough I find the seats in my N very comfortable and quite soft especially compared to the ones in our CX30 which I find quite hard - the suspension is a bit softer though!

I am still loving the N although it is becoming difficult to avoid all the potholes😠

The Superb seems to make the potholes disappear, the seats are firm but I am able to make the lumbar support fit my weird shape back, I've not had any wheel spinning either being it a 4x4 model.

I do miss the the sharper throttle and sharper steering of the Kona but liking the Superb for very different reasons.

Both are great at what they do, just one fits me better.

That's the main thing! Nothing worse than a long trip in a car with seats that don't suit you - my worst was a Peugot 406 and the most comfortable relaxing drive was the Rover 75 - I could do 350 miles and more in a day in that and not suffer in the least.

I do groan sometimes at the excessive road noise on some surfaces (Somerset coarse tarmac) and the shaking you get from some potholes but at least it doesn't "crash" over bumps like the SLC did.

I do always take the Kona in preference over the CX30 if we are doing a round trip of less than 60 miles or so as it makes the driving fun, if that is possible these days!

Longer trips I will opt for the CX30 which is smoother and more comfortable but it does feel like you are steering a canal boat, until you get used to it again. Even in sport mode you seem to have to wring it's neck to get a modicum of performance from it for an overtake. It feels like half the 180 horses are asleep!

There's an acquaintance in our village who keeps asking if I will sell him my Kona and I still tell him it's not for sale!

Anyway, glad the Superb is working out - have always liked them but just too big for our needs so never really been on the list of possibilities!
