Hey lads. I got my i30N (2019) serviced just now and was told inner tie rod is gone, but can't be replaced on its own. Need to get whole steering rack. Car is out of warranty 2 months.

So in short, how bad of a damage my wallet will take. It feels like it's going to be very expensive journey for a small thing to be replaced. I haven't gotten a qoute yet from dealer on it.

Are you sure you can't get an inner tie rod? Try a motor factors or get the part number from partsouq.com and Google it

First of all though I'd jack the front up and check it myself. How many miles has it done? Inner track rod ends usually go after 150k miles at least

Mine has only 70k KM! That's what lads told me, to go to independent and see what will they say.

And there is no oart number for it. There is actually similar thread here from 2022. And whole thing costed 4.5k eu!!

It’s definitely replaceable. I just replaced mine (MY2020) after bending it due to a slight off-roading adventure into the barrier on the Nurburgring.

OE part number is 56540F2000. I just ordered it from my local parts store. Wasn’t OE but from Sidem (reference 87414). It cost €56, there are cheaper alternatives I just wanted it fast, and took about an hour to replace

I also found this from a Veloster N forum which might be helpful https://www.velostern.com/threads/i...replacement-found.5498/?sortby=newest#replies

Thank you very much! I'll look in to this after work! Presume any decent shop can do the swap?

Yeah of course. I mean I did it with just a breaker bar, a universal tie rod tool off Amazon and some wrenches so I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to

Cant Edit my post, but i found exact part Jeremy had.

303mm version, they are all M16x1.5 I presume if its few mill different size, it won't be an issue.

Most of these rods on local website are 15 to 30eu. I don't mind ordering 4 different ones and find a mechanic for it. 100eu on parts + labour is not 4.5k!

I just had the same issue with my car - due to an unfortunate incident with a curb, the car got the right suspension properly bent. Control arm and tie rod is bent and is replaced, but also had the same report from the mechanic about the steering linking rod - apparently he's told by Hyundai that for i30N you can only order the whole steering rack for 4500€.

Anyone have any clue why this would be the case, and are there any issues with using rods from a normal i30?

I have just had a look using my vehicle and definitely don't list the inner tie rods as a separate part only comes with the rack.

It's a fairly generic part. Measure the length, thread diameter on both ends and ask a refurbishment company. Basically it's just an inner track rod end

Hey mate did you ever get this sorted? Mines knocking in and out on the inner rod end joint 🥴. Not keen on them pulling the whole rack. Also I have eibach springs so they may knock me back anyway
