Car pulls to the right when accelarating

Hello,

I'm Patrice and I've been driving an i30n Performance for 2 years. My problem since I have the car is already relatively dangerous and the Hyundai workshops do not want to look.

My problem:
At the first stronger acceleration after starting the engine (cold and warm) suddenly my car steers to the right. I have to steer the steering wheel about 20-40 degrees to the left. It's like a third hand is pulling at the steering wheel. The condition remains active when accelerating, braking or coasting. After 1-3 seconds it disappears again relatively quickly. As if the power was gone under one second. Once that happens, it doesn't come back unless I turn the car off and on again.

I drive around with the standard Pirelli P Zero tires with 19 inch rim. The problem is almost gone when I take my 18 inch winter tires.

Ruts, tires, etc I can rule out.

I would like to ask you if you know the problem or theoretically have an idea.

I am open to anything, as it is already very dangerous.

The car had also already received the first 30,000 km maintenance. There I have addressed the issue but was stamped for an idot and said that would then be ruts.

I look forward to your answers.

Greetings
Patrice

Hi Patrice, sorry to hear about your problem. it sounds like it could be quite dangerous! It would seem there is already an existing forum thread that talks about a similar issue here.

Take a read, I hope it gives you more insight

The car has torque vectoring so I would suspect the problem is in the E-Diff with the servo or the diff itself or the control of it. There is a whole ECU that controls this so I would start there or the sensors like the one on the steering wheel. The ECU thinks you are heavy cornering and it is incorrectly shifting the drive to the left wheel.

Unless your foot is on the brakes every time when it happens when it suddenly pulls to the right its not brakes.

If it has very fixed timing or duration then ECU or reset on power off brings it back ECU.

Thanks for the Link. It helps a little. But my problem comes by fast accelerations...
I will write back if i get new news.
Thanks you for your help.

It’s been a while since I asked that, but after I bought new tires, the problem went away. It was also strange that it only happened with my summer tires and not with my winter tires.

Apparently, the differences in rolling circumference were too great for the differential’s tolerance, which is why it was acting up. I also had the chance to talk to a Hyundai engineer about it at an official Hyundai N event. He advised me to get new tires first.

Still, it shouldn’t be normal for the differential to react like that when there’s just a few millimeters of difference. Thanks anyway for your help a few years ago
