Anyone here done a SantaPod RWYB day?

Just curious if anyone here has done one of these?

Thinking of doing this as a kind of present for my Dad (my Dad loves my car so would love him to be able to experience the full power of the car with minimal danger.

Also curious about people's times and what I would need to prepare for such an event.

Not done a RWYB there but spectate a fair bit. The strip is treated with traction compound and extremely grippy to the point of being sticky I believe - to allow the top fuelers and funny cars to get 10,000bhp down! Personally I would be very cautious about doing full power, clutch dropping starts as you won't get any wheelspin which will put some serious strain on your drivetrain. Apologies if you go there and know all this already! Hopefully these pictures give an idea of the grip available...

Hiya!

Yeah, I've been many times as a spectator over the years too but to be honest I didn't even realise that!
I've got a DCT so was thinking of just activating launch control and doing that a few times to hopefully prevent any human errors. Again will put a lot of strain on the drivetrain though as you say.
 
Cool - have a great time! I did run my Mk2 Escort Sport down the strip in the early 70's and got a 17.5 second run, felt really slow to be honest but was still fun back then.

ah cool that's good to know.

Yeah I suspect it will feel slightly slow even in a 300bhp car XD

RWYB 13th May Santa Pod (UK)

Hello all! I'm going to be going with my Dad to this event this year. For those that don't know, it's a drag race track. You get unlimited runs throughout the day in your own car! Can challenge whoever you want that's there too. I've just bought my tickets as was thinking it would be great...
