Hi,

Recently bought the new 130 sedan n DCT and is due for its 1500km service. on a short drive this morning I saw that my engine temperature was passing the ''mid'' mark when parked, however slowly went down. In addition to this my coolant temperature is appearing to be higher than the oil temperature by 2-3 degrees.

What is the optimal running oil and coolant temperatures for this car?

hard to say, depends on your oil in the first place. If you run the Shell 0w30 Helix oil, the optimum operating temps are between 80-100°C. However that does not mean that the oil won't do it's job properly when outside this window. It just ages quicker (when warmer) and puts more stress on the oil pump (when colder).

regarding the coolant I'd say about 90-95°C is normal.

I think there is no such thing as optimal, because it depends on the load and the environment temperature and the speed of the car (air).

The manual says that you will get a warning if the coolant goes above 120°C, and you have to stop an wait until it cools down. It can go over the boiling point because it's under pressure.
Coolant in between 80°C and 100°C is OK, mostly it's about 90°C.
110°C => carefully, it's getting hot.
120°C => ALERT ! Abandon the ship !

The oil can be in between 80°C and 130°C, it's perfectly normal. If you are on the track and pushing it, it can be even 140°C, still fine.

I think you don't have to worry about it, because the computer will warn you in time. At least it should.

thanks For your reply.With the coolant I’m getting fluctuations between 89-97 degrees Celsius. Not too sure if I’m just overanalysing it for this vehicle as it’s my first time having active feedback from the cars computer regarding car metrics
