Hi all, just wondering if someone can shed some light on how the front registration plate mount is attached to the car? Is it screwed on? If so, from the front or the back? Cheers.

It's all part of the front grille moulding - the whole section is one large piece with the front plate screwed and bonded on from the dealer.

Thanks for the quick reply. So the black plastic mount is not removable at all? Means that we're pretty much consigned to euro style plates.....

I believe so - I'm not with my car at the moment but I'm positive it's all built in to the grille plastic.

What are those two holes at the bottom corner of the mount? Nothing more than holes?

It's a shame they put such a large mount for the plate. If you want to completely cover the mount, it means you are consigned to using Euro style plates, which are expensive in Oz because they are non - standard.

That's where my dealer so kindly screwed my plate on...

I'll be getting them fixed soon!

Might even look into trying to remove the excess mount and get another grill to chop up and plastic weld in

These are UK spec cars though- maybe the Australian versions will have different grille mouldings to hold the right size plate. US cars are always different for this reason.

All of the media cars used here in Australia have had it, so I assume the cars we get here will be the same. Could be wrong, though.

Evening all,

Can anyone tell me how the plates are mounted? I can't for the life of me remember when I test drove the car..

Reason I'm asking is I have a private registration and will be putting that on (after a few weeks of showing off my 18 plate car :p)

Tape, screws? I hate drilling plates, last 2 cars I've had, the rear plates have had to be drilled

I want to put a licence plate sticker on the front of my car. I don't like the big official plate hanging over the original provided holder.

I know its illegal in my country but I will carry my current one in the trunk just in case police will complain about it.

Would someone be so kind to measure the front original plate holder?

I will thank you allot! :)
