Just installed the Forge motorsport intake on my 2021 fl i30n and too my surprise no turbo flutter when i take my foot off the accelerator though ive seen alot of previous model i30n's with the same intake have flutter in neutral revving. any ideas?

You won’t get flutter in the FL model. Trust me, I’ve tried.
Unless ofc you cancel/cover the bov itself.

Hey family,
I recently purchased a 2022 i30n fastback and have started to look around for an aftermarket air intake. I have seen two on the market that caught my eye but can't really find much about the airtec one. Just posting to get people's opinions and experiences on either one aswell as any other options.
P.s please don't recommend oil filters as I am in Melbourne and they are not legal nor IFX as it doesn't fit the facelift

In the greater scheme of things the difference between these two will be insignificant. Just pick the one you prefer.

Actually, the AIRTEC is made in China and the Forge in the UK.

The Forge intake utilizes a PIPERCROSS Filter as well. The Forge Motorsport also uses a 102mm intake pipe.

Where as, the Airtec uses a smaller diameter intake pipe and a more restrictive filter.
So, if you’re looking for better all round performing intake, the Forge Motorsport is the better choice and performing of the two.👍🇺🇸

Hola,

Do you happen to know exactly the size of Airtec intake pipe?

I do get a little bit of flutter with the pipercross intake, FL DCT.
To provoke this, you need to keep a little bit of throttle (maybe 5%) and don't release the foot completely.

Ive just installed it today intake and adaptor on FL I30N. Man its loud lol
But ive also noticed the changing gear for 2nd to 3rd ive lost the exhaust pops and bangs which I was getting above 4000rpm.
Anyone else noticed this.

So I seen most people use the forge one however Im worried about heat saturation from traffic. Tempted with a Semi enclosed one but that's got to be imported so what are people's thoughts? I'm not fussed with price as its a build I wanna keep for a while. It's too be put on the fl i30n dct.

either go fully enclosed or open. anything in-between is bs.

Oh
No what I mean is, that a semi enclosed intake will bring you the same high Temps in traffic as the open intake from e.g. Forge. There is no benefit of a heatshield.
Ah. OK. I was thinking one without a shield would take more of the engine heat. But if its the same imma take the better looking one

if you are stationary e.g. in traffic all the air under the bonnet will be toasty, so the shield sitting between the intake and the engine won't make a difference.

It doesn’t make any difference with a heat shield or not. The only difference will be in the use of a closed airbox. Once the car is moving above 15-20 mph, there’s more than enough cooler air moving in the engine.👍🇺🇸

Has anyone noticed after installing Forge intake that when you downshift form 3rd to 2nd (manual FL) that it sounds like its sucking air in. As I can hear the intake noise. Is that normal?
Id think it wouldn't as not accelerating.
