So it's time to talk about oil squirters/jets and them falling out.

I thought this was maybe a freak thing but recent information has surfaced on Facebook of at least 11 people who've had 1-3 oil squirters fall out into their oil pan. One even had warranty denied because they said his aftermarket exhaust caused vibration.

This is a incredibly shit move by Hyundai not acknowledging this but then again they didn't acknowledge the Theta II issues either.

So the problem appears to be some (no way to know if all unless someone can find the part number and order one) of the oil jets are simply placed into the jet housing instead of soldered as you can see in the picture attached.

I've had confirmation from owners on this happening on year s from 2018 to 2021 models. Haven't had any confirmation of newer than that yet.

Trying to gather more information for a possible class action.

Wtf the Hyundai engines got oil squirters, kudos to these engineers. Hopefully tightened, secured properly on our shitbox. Never heard of these falling off, most engines didn't have these.

Yeah it's both good and awful. Good they have them, awful they are randomly falling out.
 
Pretty common to have oil squirters on a turbo engine. Presume these are squirting to the pistons ?

Ugly picture, its hit a few things on the way down after it has fallen out.

No doubt already fixed on later model cars, that's the advantage of buying something after its been in production for 5 years, which is just another reason I'm getting one of these instead of say the the new GR Corolla because that car is having all sorts of issues.

Manufacturers are a nightmare really, instead of perfecting a single design over 10 years, they keep coming out with new models with a whole bunch of new problems with every model that they don't get to fix before moving on to the next.

This has happened on as new as 2021

Unlikely it has fractured off but hard to tell now because its been beaten hard, probably by the crankshaft and rods.

So far it's confirmed on the Veloster and i30N. The Veloster is confirmed as new as 2021, the i30N was a 2019 but there's not many in the group so it's hard to get accurate info.

I haven't seen any on a Elantra or Kona yet but it could be that no one has posted it.

Also it's strange because Hyundai usually solders their oil jets. Here's one from a NA 2.0

Not sure, haven't had any confirmation of it in newer models because the main thread is on a Veloster N Facebook group so there's very few non Velosters on there.

I'll try and do more research but so far it's widely reported across all years of VN.

Hard to say if the face lift changed the design of the oil jets
