Hello,

We've recently had some snowy weather in the UK and regrettably, I've cracked and split the left corner of my front bumper after bumping into an embankment trying to stop a slide on ice. I'm now in the unfortunate position of needing to find a replacement.

This post forms a sort of scratch-pad for my research into the relevant parts and their approximate cost to replace

Still not found a replacement bumper from a scrapyard. Might have to concede and pick up a new one o_O

You’ll have great difficulty in finding a bumper fascia in one piece. Very few accident involving a rear end collision happen solely. Personally, I’d bite the bullet and order a new one.👍🇺🇸

I bought the three pieces in my original post and they arrived today.

Getting the original bumper off is relatively straight forward. It's mainly plastic clips and a few 8mm bolts, disconnect the lamp units and electrics to the sensor loom and you're done.

At first glance (pic1) the upper piece doesn't look to exactly match but I've never done this before and the part number sticker + manufacturer stamp seem to match between the two so it lead me to think that the middle plastic bits where the registration plate should go, could be removed?

Also, (pic2) it would seem some of the inner plastic inserts have an huge number of clips which are tiring to separate. Some of the pieces closer to the edge of the fascia are riveted together which is something i did not anticipate. I can certainly get myself a hand riveter but I'm not confident I can safely remove the existing rivets without damaging anything.

Keen to hear thoughts from others who may have done this before

Does it need to be painted in the body colour?
I replaced the rear bumper and lower trim on mine a few years ago and the parts were less than £150 inc vat. Cost about £200 to get a mate to spray it. Paint is expensive

Yeah, i had to get it sprayed and then all the front bits like headlamps, grille, DRLs etc transplanted into the new front fascia.

I imagine the rear panel is a lot simpler in its design.

@ash.i30n what did it cost you in total in the end? I'm in a similar situation now with mine thanks to the PZeros in frost this morning 🙄

Debating whether or not to go through insurance basically.

Does anyone know whether the fastback front bumper is identical to the hatchback? It is a different part number and half the price, but looks identical, hence why I am asking!

I do believe they are the same part numbers.
PFL HATCH - 86510S0000
PFL FASTBACK - 86510S0000

The fastback one is 86511-S0000 whilst mine on the hatchback is 86510-S0000?
From my system at work have put my reg in and someone who has a fastback and they both come up with the same part numbers for the front bumper?

The FL bumper part number different 86510G4DA0
