Hi all
My i30n is quickly heading towards its first service date, and looking for a 'decent' dealer to service it.

I bought the car from Blackpool Hyundai (Chorley group) and whilst its a bit of a trek, im not against it - I used to have to cart a Renault Megane 4RS into the centre of Manchester which was a PITA but was the only Renault dealer that had competent/trained RS mechanics!

My nearest dealer (well, at least to work) is Bolton (West Riding)

My other option is Wigan (again, Chorley group)

Has anybody used either of these for servicing?

Thanks

Hi, I have used West Ridings in Manchester. They have always been pretty good. Also they sorted out 2 warranty claims perfecly for me.
I purchased a 3 year service plan with Hyundai UK when I got the new car, so there was no additional costs at the dealers. It did save me money in the long run as the costs each year crept up, I had no increase. Coming up for 4 year service this year which is the big one, as far as I can suss out. I intend to keep the car for the forseeable, so added another 3 years.

Used bury for my 1st service this January
They pointed out my illegal number plate
It is spaced out ,MY I30N X
Questioned my choice of tires on the front
I replaced the front Two as they were worn with Mitchell PS4..the rears are like new , and will be replaced ect when funds allow .
They questioned the blue performance hose I'd fitted saying they would invalidate the engine warranty,
Bought the car from Chorley motors in Chorley last year , just 1year old this January
I too would like to find a happy dealer

Was that the MG dealers by any chance?

I can understand the hose although a bit petty, but to question PS4's is a bit of an odd one! I have a pair of Michelin PS5 on mine (same as you I replace in pairs but I rotate the new onto the rear). The OE tyres are utter crap for anything other than perfect conditions!)

Will feed back about Bolton

Interesting! I would suspect when your MOT is due they will report the numberplate. I know there are a lot of guys now being picked up on that. As Slank said, totally undersytand the hose would be a warranty violation. I asked at a couple of dealers as I fancied the look, and got that answer. Odd that If I were to fit an after market audio upgrade I would not violate the warranty (showed them the German upgrade package not available in UK).
Tyres ??? What did they actually say? I have replaced my fronts with Mich PS4s, and nothing was said at the service afterwards. One thing I would advise is add a good tracking check if you are replacing front tyres, my MOT guy said the wear on the Pirellis was a little out and I found the tracking at Kwik fit showed it was well out of whack at the front and slighty at the back. Thier computorised tracking may be a big cost addition but is brill, made the car feel a lot better. They do offer a free check.

When it's due for a MOT..in 2 years time I will be swapping the number plate for a correctly spaced one.
The comment was that I didn't have all 4 tires as perili, only the rear two .mis matching tires
My reasons are the back are still like new , the original fronts were minimum tread but legal, so I bought the best I could afford for the front, in 6 months , I will rotate them to the back , and fit new PS4 on the *front* , as it's front wheel drive , new to the front.. as they wear, swap them over ect

probably just being over zealous in the hope you might go 'oh, I didn't realise - how much to fix it?' however there is absolutely nothing wrong with what you have done! If you had different tyres on the same axle then, yeah, that's questionable, but 100% fine as pairs!

Like you, I too still have the original Pirelli's on the back and new Mich PS4s on the fronts . A far as I recall Splank is correct the rule is that you dont mix on the same axle? No one at my dealer or MOT has made any comment about mixed tyres. I dont think you, I or anyone will be swapping out good tyres just to keep all 4 the same. What a strange dealer.

I've just booked my son's car in for it's first service at Hyundai Warrington. £169 all in! I was very surprised how cheap that was compared to Bolton that wanted £200+. Bolton wouldn't give any discount even though that's where we bought the N from!

Interesting that the dealer servicing doesn't seem to be fixed across the dealer network! I am used to Nissan and Renault where that was the case. Unless they are working on deals/discounts that others are not?

I can't remember how much I'm about to be charged for the service this Wednesday but will feed back when I collect.

I need to balance convenience, cost and factor in a first impression. Whilst Warrington isn't that far away in the grand scheme of things, it is very much the wrong way to do anything I do on a day-to-day basis, I also somewhat negative impression with them when I went to look at an N that they had just pre-registered as we were in the area to visit Ikea. The salesperson was 'ok' and allowed me to look around 2 examples, but immediately went on the defensive about pricing and 'how they were going to ratchet upwards now they have stopped selling them' without me even prompting him, and that they could not sell it for a few months. Regardless I still enquired about buying it a few days later, even allowing for the delay, but all I got was just silence!
