After some thoughts of retirement from posting here (lol) and in an effort to keep a record of our competition cars up to date, off I go again. Very early this time (04.30) being in Manchester I have not been that far down the country rallying since the WRC days. And then I was coming up from Cardiff/Swansea service parks. It was around a 3 hour trip even at the speed limit !!!(Honest gov)
I headed for the first stage (Lyn Login) to make sure I get all the cars through. Arrived at around 7.30 for a 9.22 SS01 stage start, and it was empty apart from Marshalls. Turned out to be a generally dry day and the speccy area was large and you were free to roam away if you wanted, staying in safe places obviously.
A 90 degree from gravel to tarmac and a hairpin in the speccy area, and to make it even better right at the start of the taped off area was a jump for the faster cars. I moved to the jump for the second run through SS05 13.00
I may go back next year holidays and weather permitting as its is very open on the military ranges.
Nice to see a basic i20 taking place (223), not a "N" or "R5" souped up car. and it was going well.
Car No Driver Co Driver Make/Model Size Class
5 Kyle White Peredur Davies Hyundai I20 R5 1598 B14
6 Alan Carmichael Dale Bowen Hyundai I20N 1600 B14
223 Dave Troughton Natalie Heath Hyundai I20 1198 RF1.4
Results
5 - Kylie and Peredur came in 5th overall 1.20.8 away from winner and 2nd in class just 26seconds adrift.
6 - Alan and Dale were 11th overall, and 8th in class.
223 - Dave and Natalie were first in their class and 95th over all out of 97 fimishers. However they had a 2 min penalty. Without that they would have been higher up.
Hope you like the pictures, even in the reduced sizes to post, still getting used to the new Nikon.
If there are any crews on here want more/bigger size files to save or print PM me. All free.
