Hi all!

Some time ago I installed an ambient light kit from Aliexpress and just wanted to share with you the result! As I installed the bucket seats on the pre-restyling i30N I also took the oportunity to make the N light on the seats permanent.

Pictures:

The kit had lights also for floor + doors, but wanted to have something clean and simple.

Any questions will be happy to answer!

what kit did you get as this is something I've been looking to do for a while but other kits cost a fortune when i knw you can get them much cheaper.

Your looks really good and it does transform the interior.

how difficult was it to install? What did you need to do?
The kit is quite "easy" to install, as you don't need to conect all the led strips together. Each of the strips have a Bluetooth box so they are connected together.

However, you still need to disassemble the doors, pass the cables through (you can make a small whole in the panel), and get the power through any source available, in my case, I got it from the light of the button for the windows.

I also bought a kit from aliexpress, installed in 1-2 hours approx (one door panel was crazy stuck, was resisting for half an hour). If you have someone to help you with it, it's super easy as one person will bend the door panel to make gap bigger, another person will just slide it in. Literally 10 seconds job, only disassembly and assembly takes some time. I have used a window opener button backlight as a power source as I want it to turn on only when headlight are on (in the dark) as during the day it's not visible anyway.

Aha! Looks exactly like the same kit! Quick question, do you have a delay on the passenger door led strip when you turn it off? It keeps on for 2 more seconds compared to the other led strips.

Yes I do have a delay on both front doors and I know why (I think). Front door strips are connected to permanent 12V so it turns off after it is unable to communicate with a main unit (but it's still powered on). I had bit of a trouble finding right pin for it in the front door, not sure if the wiring is a bit different there, but I definitely want to take a look over the weekend (also I broke off plastic pulley for door knob, so I will be replacing it). If someone has a wiring diagram for front door, it would be helpful.

I can already tell you there is no wiring like the back doors in the front passenger door. Reason is because the 12v that go to the button light of the back doors, in the front ones go to the canbus. This means there is no exclusive cable for the light in the front passenger door. What I did on the driver door is connect it to the lights that manage the movement of the mirror, there is one cable that is used exclusively for the button light. I will try to find the diagrams.

And how did you make the seats light up permanently?
Hey man, sorry I didn't see this question. My car is a pre-FL so it doesn't have the cable for the light in the connection pin, what I did was cut and weld the cable with an extension to a source that also lights up when light are on. As I had to mount the led strip on the main dashboard, I welded the light to the 4 indicators button light. You can do the same, just remove the pin of the cable that goes to the seat connector and weld that to another place! Hope I was clear enough, any question let me know!

I guess I could pull a cable from dash into the front door. I hooked a front LED strip into a button backlight to lock/unlock the door, so I could use the same one at least in passenger door. That should be simple enough.

Wondering if either of you have photos of the wiring you did, or wiring diagrams?

That is a good idea although not simple, the hole between the door and the chassis is not really a hole, there is a connector that connects the interior wiring with the ones in the door, so there is no space to pass through a cable, you will need to pierce one of the empty pins. Possible but not easy.

Hi mate, any luck finding any photos of what you did?
Sorry! Forgot to upload it. Here you have the pictures:

The seat has a middle connector for the light only. What I did is leve the original cables, just in case, and add a paralel connector. That paralel connector has two cables that in my case, go to the light of the 4 blinkers button.

Great! Thanks for these! Guessing you connected the wires up in a similar sort of way for the door panels and dash too?

Are you able to point to me which connection you drew power from in the doors?
