Hi everyone,
I have an I30N DCT that was built in Czech Republic. Has there been a common issue with the hpfp giving problems or failing?

Hi Tim, I have recently had HPFP issues, although mine isn't DCT I wouldn't imagine there's much difference within the common faults that occur with the OEM pumps. What issues/symptoms is yours showing currently?

Mine was having sluggish startups. On 2 occasions it just lost power and sounded like the fuel supply was inconsistent. Vehicle is at the dealership currently

Same symptoms as mine, started with reluctant start ups. A few weeks later the car would stutter and lose power at high rpms. Then began stalling even at 1,500 rpm. Fortunately had extended warranty so all fixed with a replacement hpfp.

Advice ive found elsewhere suggests that an aftermarket hpfp is well worth the investment as the oem models are known for being hit and miss.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks bud! Will keep you posted. Do you know what tests warranty did? I think a fuel test is a standard procedure? Did they do that fairly soon after you took your car in?

Hiya, I had a mate run an OBD scan on the vehicle and it came back with error code relating to fuel pressure system low/high. The AA confirmed the same and that along with the symptoms essentially confirms hpfp issues. I'm picking my vehicle up tomorrow from the original dealership and all covered by warranty, I'll try and get some more info as to what checks they did

After 6 years of faultless service my 2019 let me down last month for the first time. After negotiating an island the car stuttered to a halt, there was a nasty chemical type smell ( not petrol smell) and it wouldn’t restart or if It did it died instantly. Had to call RAC who diagnosed fuel system high pressure. Local dealer said they couldn’t diagnose for 6 weeks ffs. After research on internet I ordered an upgraded hpfp from RPM performance, fitted it and the cars back to normal and running fine. I did wonder whether I’d get any engine lights on fire up or if any damage had been done to the cat but all seems well after several weeks. spark Plugs were replaced a couple of months before so I removed them, cleaned ( they were sooted up) and replaced. I too had previously had a couple of reluctant start ups like car wouldn’t fire.
seems the oem fuel pump is a weak link. I hope this one is more reliable. the cars running great now.

Hello I know this is an old post what you have described happened to me today Saturday 27th September 2025 had the car towed to Hyuandi waiting on them coming back with diagnostic or fault report I got a chemical smell wasn’t all petrol but a mix of petrol and this chemical with pops & bangs then A plume of black smoke out both exhausts.

My car has been faultless until a week ago when started to lose power from time to time.
AA and an independent garage have checked sparkplugs and coil packs but unsure what to do. Fault code when they plug the laptop in is P008800 Fuel Pressure Regulator. Value too High.
Have had serviced by Hyundai since new. Now at 75000 miles. It had the HPFP replaced as a 'recall' item only back in November as a precaution but now looks like there is an issue with this.
Anyone any pointers please ? I've now booked the car in to be looked at a Hyundai Dealer an hour's drive away.

Last July my car got stuck on the highway in Germany while returning home to the Czech Republic. I was towed to the service station with the HPFP being kaput. It happened suddenly, without warning.
