i30 N Performance track & daily

Intercooler, sport-cat and flexpipe are the next parts to come ;)

I don't think it makes any difference for track usage if the plate opens at 70 or at 90°C.
Once it's on temperature it stays open.
But for daily usage it's important. However for now my quick & dirty fix is duct tape on the front grill 🤣
With the larger FMIC it will all the way around. Cooler operating temps from the intake, will also reduce overall heat and heat soak from the engine. Additionally, it's preferable to have the oil circulating thru the cooler at lower temps, which will also reduce IAT's, heat soak and boost performance especially in slower close proximity traffic. A cooler running engine produces more horsepower.

If you really believe you have to; simply design and manufacture a pullover sock out of Gortex material, with a pull tie or elastic to cover the cooler. Sort of a small bag with a pull tie. This will still allow air to circulate but slows down the airflow thru the cooler itself.

Start out with something like this making it slide over the cooler. Remove the straps and add a pull tie or elastic to hold it securely on the oil cooler. Nothing fancy

true, but this happens by default with the Airtec oil cooler. Some oil will always go through the cooler.

Instead of putting something in front of the cooler, I think the long-term fix would be just exchanging the thermostatic pellet to one that works both for daily driving and track usage.

@Fishmasta The thermostat stays closed during high temps and not open ;)
The Mocal thermostat is open when it's cold and closes when the oil reaches the operating temp of the pellet. Just to prevent some potential confusion.

This ^ is correct, about 12% or so will always flow thru the cooler as designed. At 194 degrees Fahrenheit the heat from the engine oil, is within normal operating range 195 - 220.:)👍

Long time no see :O
The engine oil cooler is doing a brilliant job.
Also in the meantime the 200 cell cat with flexpipe has been installed.
Unfortunately i missed to do some pics.

In addition a bought an additional fun upgrade and since the warranty void last month it was the Pipercross and not the Hyundai version:
