Hyundai Bluelink now have to pay !!!

I just updated my Bluelink on my i20N 2023 and the link is trying to get me to re register, with different plans that I have to pay for !!
I think it has confused you a bit (it did me). The bit they are suggesting you should sign up for isn’t actually for you and the i20N doesn’t even qualify for it - it is very confusing. When you got your car it came with a five year sign up so you are still covered 👍.

Yep this is correct. Recall being told by the dealer that it'll be 5 years included and then it'll be paid from then onwards.

Bluelink can be useful but personally don't find myself using it too much. The notification if doors are unlocked can sometimes be useful (and other times a nuisance as I know they're unlocked!). Also the tracking is pretty neat (got told that this technically isn't a 'tracker' though -- for insurance reasons I believe). If I still own the car 5 years from now I'll probably pay for it though. I don't think it'll be more than £5-10 a month.

Also side question but does anyone know how Bluelink actually works? Is there a satellite that transmits the signal commands to the car, or does the car just connect to a cell tower or something? Completely clueless on how it works lol

I doubt it’s satellite connection - I suspect it’s more like a mobile phone.

Bluelink shows you an IMEI number in the config, so its cellular based.

I was told that NO ONE pays for bluelink yet, because the feature is less than 5 years old and everyone gets 5 years included with car purchase. They couldnt tell me what the subscription is expected to be after 5 years either. I also prodded them about the privacy agreement and what telemetry it uploads and whether they use it in-house or by 3rd parties, etc.

EDIT: this applies to Aus at least. It seems other countries got bluelink before we did. I see you are in UK; whats the plan worth there?

I probably wont bother paying for it. i rarely need its status features, and the location usually times out and i can only see where it was YESTERDAY.

I don’t think any of the U.K. cars are five years old yet and certainly my 22 car is still in its five year Bluelink registration period - so I don’t know the cost either.

On pricing, if you go into the bluelink app, scroll to the bottom of the car's homepage, hit "current plan", then "available plans", it'll direct you to the Bluelink store, where you can hit the hamburger menu to view all products.

There are 3 plans:
  • Bluelink Pro -- £99/year or £9.99/month
  • Bluelink Plus (this is what the free trial given to all owners is) -- £29/year or £2.99/month
  • Bluelink Basic -- £10/year or £0.99/month

Most of the features in the Pro plan seem exclusive to the newer EVs. And if you try and purchase the Pro plan it'll say "your vehicle is not eligible for this product".

Hmm not too bad, what gets lost at the lowest option

LITE – Basic Services

  • Free for 10 years, then €0.99/month (€10/year)
  • Includes:
    • Online navigation
    • Voice recognition
    • EV route planning & POI
    • Vehicle info in app
    • OTA (vehicle system only)
    • Hyundai Digital Key

PLUS – More Comfort

  • Free for 6 months, then €2.99/month (€29/year)
  • Includes everything from LITE, plus:
    • LIVE services: traffic, fuel/charging station search, parking, weather, sports
    • Remote control via app: locking, charging, climate control, battery preconditioning (mainly for EVs)

PRO – Top Connectivity

  • Free for 6 months, then €9.99/month (€99/year)
  • Includes everything from PLUS, plus:
    • Music streaming: Amazon Music, SoundCloud, more to come
    • OTA updates for maps & infotainment
    • Regular feature upgrades & new functions

Translated from an German Article. Even though the 10 years and 6 months free is a bit strange since we have 5 years.... but ok

But they are also stating:

Hyundai Models from Model Year 2025

  • Come with 6 months of Bluelink PRO included
  • After that, you can subscribe to:
    • Bluelink PLUS: €2.99/month (€29/year)
    • Bluelink PRO: €9.99/month (€99/year)
  • If you don’t subscribe, your vehicle will automatically switch to Bluelink LITE, which is free for 10 years
  • You can upgrade to PLUS or PRO anytime later

Hyundai Models from 2024 or earlier

  • After your free trial ends, you can choose PLUS or PRO, depending on your car's equipment

So I think most of us cant even have the LITE Version

For my german fellows or the ones who have automatic Translation xD

Shame as lite sounded fine as vehicle info was enough (as thats the only thing i can think of that counts the location of it)
Still, not overly terrible to personally track my car even if its not a real tracker as outside services cant track it

so lite loses traffic congestion info in Nav, and ability to remote lock my car and thats pretty much it? i guess i'll let it stay on the lite plan. Cant say I even noticed any traffic info when i used the Nav last.
