I've been putting this thread on hold for a while. But, here it is. This thread will cover the steps taken to switch from the normal Veloster N seats that were standard on all US Spec Veloster Ns from 2019-20 to the current N Light Sport Bucket Seats.

Tools used during the install:

External Torx socket size 13mm
3/8in Drive Ratchet
Automotive Electrical Circuit System Diagnosis Tool Tester Digital Voltmeter
Electrical wires for positive and negative

Micro2 Add A Fuse Tap

First you will need to open the vehicle, fold the seat and move the seat back to where you are able to see the bolts that are holding down the seats. Both front seats are held on by 4 bolts.

Once you remove the 4 bolts, you can lift the seat and remove all of the harness wires that connect to the seat. Screen Shot 2021-07-12 at 6.40.15 PM.png
Now its time to remove the seats. Being careful not to scratch the plastic panels and your vehicles paintwork. I recommend having a second person who can help safely guiding the seats out of the car without scratching anything in the process.

Once you have safely removed the seats. Fold down the seat that you will be installing and carefully place it onto the car. Now its time to do the wiring. Screen Shot 2021-07-12 at 6.50.28 PM.png
In order for the 'N Lights' to function properly we will be focusing on these two wires that come with the N Light Sport Seats. I used the digital voltmeter and this is what I got:

Yellow/Red wire is positive(+).
Brown wire is negative(-).
Tap both of those wires and start snaking the wires throughout the interior of the car.

Look up to where the dome lights is located and remove it to where the wires are exposed.
Tap the yellow wire and snake it all the way down to the floor of the car. Make sure to pop out the A-Pillar trim so you can have enough room to snake the wire through. You do not need to remove the A-Pillar trim completely.

Once you have snaked the wire that you used to tap the dome lights, you should have three wires. This is where you use the Add A Fuse Tap onto the fusebox. I placed mines where it powers the “Interior Lamp”. If you place it anywhere else, the N Lights may be powered on until you remove the battery or disconnect the wires.106D44C8-A442-4C2E-8864-0129EEF653D4.jpeg

The final step is to guide the wires that were tapped to the N Light sport seats to the other side of the car. From there you would repeat the same step by tapping the yellow/red wire and brown wire. Then you reinstall the bolts to hold down the seats. And that concludes the N light sport seat install. Im pretty sure I am missing a detail of this install but once I remember I'll be sure to revise this as I have completed this installation on May 2021.Screen Shot 2021-07-12 at 11.53.17 PM.png

As a bonus, here is a quick comparison between the old seat next to the N light sport bucket seat.Screen Shot 2021-07-12 at 11.45.18 PM.png
Below are pictures showing the differences between the two seats in terms of the lower bolsters. The first picture shows the old seat.Screen Shot 2021-07-12 at 11.47.49 PM.png
And here is the picture showing the N light sport bucket seat.

Seems to me after looking at the two seats side by side, Hyundai opted to remove padding from the seats, which IMO not in favor of. Considering the price differential, I'll find a custom upholstery shop and have the older style seats recovered. Just like our friend in Dubai did for considerable less. Maybe, I can have him do another set like his.

Hi Mate!

Very interesting post, I have been able to buy a pair of buckets for my I30N and I will be installing them next week (had to bought an Airbag as one of them was deployed), could you share more pictures on the installation? Specially regarding the connectors. In your case, did you have exactly the same connectors?

I have been checking and I can see that I have two modules, one on each seat, but the buckets just have one (on the passenger side). My original seats were electrically adjustable, so I imagine there might be some differeces.

Also did you need to change the airbag module?

Many thanks in advance!

For the Veloster N. I did not change the airbag module. All I did was wire up the lights and everything else was plug and play. No airbag warning light after the install.

Let's hope it will be the same for the I30N🤞

I don't know if anyone else in the forum has swapped the seats.

Shot in the dark here, and completely opposite of what most everyone wants.

Does anyone know if the seats from the Veloster N (The cloth ones) have the same or different wiring than the N buckets that come in the Elantra N? I am wanting to put the Veloster N Seats in my Elantra N for long road trips because the N buckets after a couple hours have me in serious pain.

I have found a set, and the guy selling them and I both think that the wiring is direct swap out, but I'm not entirely sure.

I figured I'd ask here since I am sure this post gets a lot of traffic.

I did look at the option of fitting the N light seats as this is the standard option in Australia I believe but the dealer was not prepared to give me a discount.

At the end of the day the weight savings is not significant and no way I was going to pass on the 10 way electric with memory, it would devalue the car.

Yeah, we only get the N Lite seats here in the USA. I wish we got the 10 way electric seats! I’d gladly PAY more for those than the buckets we get.

Has anyone fitted the N bucket seats into the first gen Veloster? Do the bolts line up or a custom rail/bracket is required?
