I've been putting this thread on hold for a while. But, here it is. This thread will cover the steps taken to switch from the normal Veloster N seats that were standard on all US Spec Veloster Ns from 2019-20 to the current N Light Sport Bucket Seats.
Tools used during the install:
External Torx socket size 13mm
3/8in Drive Ratchet
Automotive Electrical Circuit System Diagnosis Tool Tester Digital Voltmeter
Electrical wires for positive and negative
Micro2 Add A Fuse Tap
First you will need to open the vehicle, fold the seat and move the seat back to where you are able to see the bolts that are holding down the seats. Both front seats are held on by 4 bolts.
Once you remove the 4 bolts, you can lift the seat and remove all of the harness wires that connect to the seat.
Now its time to remove the seats. Being careful not to scratch the plastic panels and your vehicles paintwork. I recommend having a second person who can help safely guiding the seats out of the car without scratching anything in the process.
Once you have safely removed the seats. Fold down the seat that you will be installing and carefully place it onto the car. Now its time to do the wiring.
In order for the 'N Lights' to function properly we will be focusing on these two wires that come with the N Light Sport Seats. I used the digital voltmeter and this is what I got:
Yellow/Red wire is positive(+).
Brown wire is negative(-).
Tap both of those wires and start snaking the wires throughout the interior of the car.
Look up to where the dome lights is located and remove it to where the wires are exposed.
Tap the yellow wire and snake it all the way down to the floor of the car. Make sure to pop out the A-Pillar trim so you can have enough room to snake the wire through. You do not need to remove the A-Pillar trim completely.
Once you have snaked the wire that you used to tap the dome lights, you should have three wires. This is where you use the Add A Fuse Tap onto the fusebox. I placed mines where it powers the “Interior Lamp”. If you place it anywhere else, the N Lights may be powered on until you remove the battery or disconnect the wires.
The final step is to guide the wires that were tapped to the N Light sport seats to the other side of the car. From there you would repeat the same step by tapping the yellow/red wire and brown wire. Then you reinstall the bolts to hold down the seats. And that concludes the N light sport seat install. Im pretty sure I am missing a detail of this install but once I remember I'll be sure to revise this as I have completed this installation on May 2021.
As a bonus, here is a quick comparison between the old seat next to the N light sport bucket seat.
