I want to paint/wrap my shark fin gloss black to match the spoiler (and it'll look pretty sweet on Polar White car) but instead of trying to hack away at the original I managed to get hold of another unit from a PB car that is being broken up.
Figured I'd just document what's what:

Haven't removed my current shark fin off the car but it doesn't seem like rocket science:
Pull roof lining down at the rear
Undo nut holding antenna to roof
Disconnect wires

Will take pics once I actually get around to swapping them over......

Anyway, here is the assembled antenna as its removed from the vehicle:IMG_20200305_114553355.jpg

Remove the 7 screws underneath and then you can remove the painted cover from the base.
Pull slowly and work your way around, its on quite tight:

Don't wanna sound like a sycophant but we need more of this sort of content.

No, you carry on lol.

Seriously though, there are lots of people doing plenty of things on these cars now and not to sound like a grump (ok I will)......there is a lot of "take" but not a lot of "give". Share the knowledge people!
There are some awesome project car threads where owners really go above and beyond to share but it seems its always the same guys.

Especially with anything DIY, removing standard parts etc. Every little helps and can really help others out.

Even just some quick pics to document what peeps did would be cool.

Wow, all those electronics inside, a lot more complicated than the wire coat hanger I had on My 1981 Ford Escort !:)

If you want to lower the roof liner you have to take out the
side trims in the back and the grips for the passengers.
And best is to take out the B pillar trims also.
This because the liner is on a sort of cardboard and will crack easy.
lower the rear seats, take out the parcel shelf and flooring.
There are a few nuts and screws the rest are clips you cant see.
Upper and lower are two parts!
The back of the roof liner is mounted with a kind of velcro
this is fairly fixed.
Another thing to watch over, cold temps are funest for plastic, they will break easy!!

@loafer-N77, Don't read this as comment please!!;)
I'll take my hat of for what you do for this forum!!

I'agree with the points you make, I like to share my knowledge with people with the same thoughts.
In this particular the I30N.
Cars in general are the red line in my life, for hobby and work and I like to modify and repair them.
As i take your point for "take and not give" i think you have to realize that this forum at this moment is not as this big as we would like it to be.
One thing is playing parts on us, parts to modify!
There are not that many parts on the market as for instance Subaru.
I use two other forums that are really big, because they are so big there are a lot of
people with technical knowledge and a lot of them like to share or give answers.
I'll hope this forum will grow to numbers like that and more technical/ modifing issues are going
to be shared.
Like wheel alignment for fast road use or retro fitting.

As stated...Share the knowledge people!
